It's a new era for Ipswich Town after Paul Hurst replaced long-serving former manager Mick McCarthy at Portman Road.

Whilst few could argue with the Irishman's results during his time in charge of the Tractor Boys, his playing style attracted a lot of criticism and divided fans.

However, no the club is united as they look to support Hurst who joins the club after a remarkable time with Shrewsbury Town in League One that almost resulted in an unlikely promotion win.

The 43-year old has wasted no time in making his own mark on the side, bringing in a few new signings already as he gears up for the new season.

Yet, Ipswich still don't have a budget to compete with a lot of Championship sides so Hurst will have a tough job on his hands.

Here we look at four things we've learnt about the Tractor Boys so far this summer...

Hurst found many gems in his time at Shrewsbury and will hope to do the same at Portman Road. Whilst MCcarthy looked to the lower leagues at times, he did bring in experienced players.

So far, Hurst has acquired young, hungry players such as Gwion Edwards and Jordan Roberts who will be stepping up to the Championship and desperate to prove themselves.

With Birmingham making a move for keeper Bialkowski, many Ipswich fans would've feared the worst.

However, the Tractor Boys managed to hold onto their star man who has signed a new deal and it shows that he is behind the new boss and likes his ambition.

This is an Ipswich squad that saw plenty of players leave in the past few months, whether it was because their contracts were expiring or on permanent transfers.

With just a few weeks until the season starts and the window ends, Hurst will know new additions are needed.

Yet, they will approach that new campaign in high spirits as Hurst's appointment has lifted the whole club.

We mentioned how McCarthy was a divisive figure but now everyone is pulling in the same direction and fans will head to Portman Road with excitement from August.
