The 2015/16 season was a disappointing one for Wolverhampton Wanderers as they finished a lowly 14th position after just missing out on the play-offs the season before.

Wolves fans were hoping that Kenny Jackett's side would push on and go on to secure a top six finish, but problems on and off the field meant that they didn't even finish in the top half.

The loss of some key players, through injury and sales, left Jackett short in some departments and with the desire from those upstairs to sell, they weren't suitably replaced.

Given the recent history of the club, particularly their spells in the Premier League, the club should be performing a lot better than they did in the last campaign, and will need to improve a number of things this summer to hope to return to previous heights.

Fans have grown frustrated as the season became more disappointing by the week and they are keen to see some changes at the club this summer, in order for them to improve before the Championship gets under way again in August.

Here are FOUR things that must happen at Wolves this summer......

 Takeover

The off-the-field issues have had a massive impact on matters off the pitch and the squad has looked significantly weaker this season.

Owner Steve Morgan will want to sell the club as soon as possible and he, and the supporters, will be hoping that the club can be sold before the 2016/17 season starts.

The club needs fresh investment and if the club are to have any hope of improving on last season, then that needs to be done this summer.

Adding firepower

By the end of last season, Wolves had lost goalscoring stars Bakary Sako, Benik Afobe and Nouha Dicko and failed to replace them with players who could come in and replicate their impact.

The departures of Sako and Afobe, albeit six months apart, were inevitable but the club didn't replace them with just 4 players joining on permanent deals in the summer, none of which were forwards, while Adam Le Fondre and Sheyi Ojo joined on loan.

Joe Mason joined in January but he has failed to emulate the form of Afobe or Dicko for a number of reasons and the club will need extra firepower this summer.

Get the fans on side

The supporters became disillusioned by the events on and off the pitch this season with many of them turning against the board and the manager.

The club will need to address this before the season kicks off as having the supporters on side will be crucial to their success next season.

Whether the club decide to do this with a new manager, a new board or just some exciting additions, getting the fans back on side is something that must happen this summer, and quickly.

Improve defensively

Wolves have a squad that contains a number of the divisions top defensive prospects, with players like Matt Doherty and Dominic Iorfa have a lot of potential.

Although the experience of some of these players showed on occasions, they'll be stronger next season for it but more work will be needed to improve the club's defence.

Jackett and first-team coach Rob Edwards were defenders in their playing days and they will have to use their experience to help the club's younger stars develop and improve over the summer.
