Nottingham Forest have had a mixed season.

There have been some good moments..... Some.

The season on the whole has been very disappointing and the summer could not have come quick enough for some fans.

However, it is now time to restructure the club and build for next season.

Summer is a time of change and that is exactly what is needed at Forest.

Players will be going out and coming in. A new manager will be appointed. Potentially a new owner could come in. There will be mass speculation about stars leaving.

After this Pre-season will kick in. Matches abroad, a new look Forest, expectations will start to build for next season.

But looking into this summer where so much will change, there are some stand out things that I think should and need to happen at Forest this summer.......

Appoint a manager with experience in the Championship

After Derby County hired Nigel Pearson as their new manager I crossed what would have been another great appointment off the list.

I cannot sit here and watch yet another season go out the window.

This summer is vital.

One of the most significant things they need to do this summer is hire an experienced Championship manager.

Neil Warnock, Nigel Clough, Oscar Garcia, Martin O’Neill? These managers would fit in well yet I cannot see it happening. The only possible one is Oscar Garcia.

Establish the ownership of the club

There have been strong rumours of the Greek coming to Forest.

At first it was meant to be an 80% stake.

However there have now been rumours about him buying the whole club.

This was backed up by the release of the club shirt with the “Fawaz Air Conditioning and Refrigeration” came to an end and the betting company “888 sport” took over.

I would personally like this to happen.

I do not have anything against Fawaz. He has a lot of love for this club and put a lot of money in. However his poor appointment of managers and quick turn of mind to get rid of them has been his downfall.

As Marinakis is the owner of Olympiakos he would inject a lot of money and would bring publicity to the club. He could attract high profile players and other connections such as the Chief Executive.

Sign a striker

I would love to see Forest sign another striker.

Britt Assombalonga looks very promising and could undoubtedly score 20 goals next season.

But as we have learnt, injuries are often not in our favour.

If we had another striker he could not only play alongside Assombalonga on occasions but to play there if anything should happen to him.

Nelson Oliveira would be a great signing but there are many others that we can get.

If we spent some money this transfer window I would be glad to see us spend it on a striker.

Tie Lansbury down to a new deal

Despite being inconsistent, it is not secret that on his day Lansbury can be one of the best midfielders in the Championship.

If Forest are going to push for a top six finish next season, they need the foundation to be able to do that.

Henri Lansbury would be a key player if we kept on to him.

If we tied him down to a new contract and strengthened in the summer, we would have the framework for an exciting season at Forest.
