Norwich City have a big summer ahead after they find themselves in the second tier of English football once again.

Their striking woes saw them fail to make headway in the Barclays Premier League and they ended up finishing the season in 19th.

The signing of Timm Klose in January was excellent business by Alex Neil, but the Canaries' failure to improve on the attacking front meant that there was only so much the defence could do.

Mbokani provided consistent goals for a period at the beginning of 2016 with three goals in five starts and the on loan Dynamo Kiev man eventually finished the season with seven goals.

Now that The Canaries are back in the Championship they will definitely be aiming for a top two finish. The competition will be tougher than ever with two Champions League managers in the mix and a plethora of top quality sides. It will be a tough summer for Norwich City.

Here are four things they must do this summer...

Sign a striker

Norwich simply must fix their striking woes. Without a top quality striker they will struggle even if their team is good enough for the Premier League.

Ross McCormack has been linked with a move away from Fulham, while the club is also large enough to attract big name strikers from leagues elsewhere. Splashing the cash should not be a worry for Norwich.

The striking talent they have currently will likely perform well in the Championship, but to prepare for seasons ahead they must find a consistent talisman.

Retain Nathan Redmond

Redmond is a Premier League quality player and it is likely he will be one of the first to leave if a BPL side comes calling.

City's manager and board must be adamant in their decision about Nathan Redmond as uncertainty could be seen as a cue for Redmond to jump ship.

The winger is highly rated and at 22 years old, has a huge career ahead. If Norwich are to retain his services they will have to fend off big sides.

Neil must ensure he replaces those certain to leave.

The likes of Timm Klose, Robbie Brady and Martin Olsson alongside the aforementioned Redmond all have big warning lights flashing in terms of staying at the club.

Much like how Jordan Amavi and Giorgio Wijnaldum are being linked away from Aston Villa and Newcastle respectively because they are Premier League quality, Norwich must deal with these sorts of players too.

Alex Neil must ensure he has replacements in mind if the bigger players leave the club. Neil must also prepare for departures of players who are simply seeking pastures anew.

There will likely be a lot of movement in the transfer window for Norwich and the board must keep up to ensure they have a strong squad come the start of the season.

Plan to utilise youth in the first team setup.

Being back in the Championship is the perfect time for Neil to experiment with his side.

The manager will have plenty of freedom with his wage and transfer budget and there is no doubt the club will be able to splash the cash on players that teams like Rotherham simply could not. Therefore Neil should spend some time thinking about how youth team players can come into the setup throughout the season.

Harry Toffolo, Kyle Lafferty, James Maddison are all Football League quality players and given the chance they could blossom. Given Neil performs well during the start of the season, he should plan and take a look at the younger players in his squad this summer and decide who could make the step up to the first team.

There will be no harm in putting faith in some youth. A perfect mix of quality players that can take the team back to the Premier League alongside player with big potential can allow younger players to develop exponentially.
