Bolton Wanderers will travel to the Hawthorns on the opening day of the Championship season and will face a strong, and new look, West Bromwich Albion side.

The Trotters have made wholesale changes throughout the summer, bringing in a wave of new players to the Macron Stadium, looking to improve on their 21st place finish last season.

Darren Moore’s side have taken the quality over quantity approach to their summer spending’s, bringing in the likes of goalkeepers Sam Johnstone and Jonathan Bond, Kyle Bartley and Harvey Barnes.

The new look West Brom side will be going into the season as real title contenders, following their relegation from the Premier League last time out.

Question marks are still looming over the future of a couple of the Baggies men, so the final week before the action starts for another season could be a telling one for Moore’s side.

But either way, here four talking points ahead of West Brom v Bolton on Saturday.

With Solomon Rondon seemingly on the verge on a move to Newcastle, the starting striker’s spot at the Hawthorns is certainly unknown.

Hal Robson-Kanu has been finding the net throughout preseason, Jay Rodriguez impressed largely during last season, and the possible introduction of a new centre forward in the closing stages of the transfer window gives Darren Moore a decision to make.

Yanic Wildschut, who signed for Bolton earlier in this summer’s transfer window from Norwich City, has been hailed as a terrific bit of business for the Trotters.

The 26-year-old winger spent last season on loan at promoted Cardiff City, playing ten games without finding the net, but will be hoping to help his new side from the outset.

Whether Wildschut will start for Bolton remains to be seen, but after impressing in Bolton’s closing preseason victory against Peterborough, the Dutch forward is bound to feature for Phil Parkinson’s team.

Having been linked with a move away from the Hawthorns, question marks still linger surrounding the future of the 28-year-old.

Dawson played 30 times in all competitions for the Baggies last season, playing in the central and on the right side of the defence.

The addition of Kyle Bartley to the West Bromich Albion line up could put Dawson’s starting position it doubt, and possibly see an exit after eight years at the club.

Darren Moore has not averted away from his trusted 4-4-2 formation during West Brom’s preseason friendlies, and looks set to keep his side in the old school system.

A flat back for and two big men up top is rarely seen in today’s game, but the Baggies look ready to start their new campaign off how they left their last.
