Swansea City have made a strong start to life under Steve Cooper this term as they currently sit fourth in the Championship table.

The Welsh side lost a number of high-profile figures during the summer months, but they also recruited sensibly and now find themselves with a real chance of battling for promotion to the top-flight by the end of the season.

Cooper has taken a while to establish a settled starting eleven, but the fact he has now named an unchanged line-up for Swansea's last three league matches suggests the head coach is now close to finding his best playing set-up.

This will not necessarily stop the ex-England U17 boss from delving into the January transfer window for new recruits, but it seems likely Swansea will need to firstly offload some players to make room on their wage bill.

Here are four players Swansea should consider offloading in January...

McKay failed to truly establish himself at the club under Graham Potter last term, and he has seen even less playing time this campaign with Cooper blessed with a wide range of options in the attacking positions.

The former Nottingham Forest man has been largely limited to EFL Cup appearances so far, and he will surely be wanting to play regular first-team football at his current age, which could mean he is moved on in January.

Nordfeldt enjoyed his best season since moving to South Wales last term, but he has since been replaced by Newcastle loanee Freddie Woodman in the starting line-up, and there is little sign this will change in the near future.

The Sweden international will be wanting to play first-team football given he is now into his 30s, and Swansea will surely not be happy with paying him a significant wage if he is not playing regularly, so it would be no surprise to see him shifted.

John has never enjoyed a prolonged run in the side since joining the club during the summer of 2018, and although he has been unlucky with injuries, it seems unlikely that Swansea will be desperate to keep him in January.

The full-back has not featured in a league match under Cooper, with his only outings this campaign coming in the EFL Cup, and it is hard to envisage the Swansea boss would have any issue with the former Rangers man moving on soon.

This might seem a strange one given Borja's impressive early-season form which saw him net five goals in his first five games, but he has recently lost his place in the side and appears to have fallen down the pecking order in SA1.

Andre Ayew and Sam Surridge now appear to be Cooper's preferred options in attack, and there is a chance this could see Borja moved on in January, as his departure would likely free up significant funds on Swansea's wage bill.
