Paul Lambert really has his work cut out if he is going to save Ipswich Town from relegation this season, with the Tractor Boys cut five points adrift at the bottom of the Championship table.

The Scot is yet to win since taking over and with Paul Hurst winning just once at the start of the season the club is in dire straits.

It is clear where the club's big problem lies when you look a little closer at the statistics.

Only Bolton Wanderers have scored less than Ipswich's 15 goals this season and the club simply must start finding the back of the net more often if they are to survive.

The club's top scorer is winger Gwion Edwards with just four goals. Strikers Freddie Sears and Kayden Jackson have just two each so a striker simply must be a priority for Lambert.

Here, then, are four options they could target in January.

Eaves is a ruthless goalscorer.

He has already managed 12 this season with a struggling Gillingham side and has been a consistently high scorer for seasons now.

A step up is surely due.

At 33 he would certainly just be a short-term fix, but Henderson guarantees goals.

He has scored them consistently for Rochdale and would be a realistic option they good bring in.

Grant is one of the Football League's brightest young talents at the moment and would no doubt be keen to try his hand higher up the pyramid.

The Tractor Boys have nothing to lose by bringing him in. Either he scores the goals to keep them up and if not they have an exciting young talent for the future.

Norwood has been in brutal goalscoring form for Tranmere, netting 13 already.

Ipswich need somebody who can come straight in and score goals for fun from the get-go and there is nobody in the Football League better suited to that than the Rovers man.
