West Bromwich Albion cruised to an impressive win over early-season high-flyers Bristol City at the Hawthorns last night.

Darren Moore’s men swept aside the Robins to move up to third in the Championship.

Goals from Jay Rodriguez (2), Dwight Gayle and Harvey Barnes saw off a fightback from Lee Johnson’s side to claim all three points on a Tuesday night in the Black Country.

The Baggies led 3-0 at half-time thanks to a brace from Rodriguez either side of Gayle’s 24th-minute strike.

And the former Southampton man was bang on form to score his fifth and sixth league goals of the season.

Rodriguez played 80 minutes in the win and was on form throughout.

He managed four shots - the most of any West Brom player that evening - of which he converted half and offered a pass success rate of 67 per cent during his time on the pitch.

Jay Rod made a total of 21 passes during the evening, and 14 of those were completed as he looked to get his side up the pitch and in and around the opposition penalty area.

Despite being dispossessed once, he won two aerial duels and having a total of 2.4 per cent possession during the evening.

Rodriguez managed 31 touches in attack for the Baggies, but it was his goals that were the most prominent statistic from the victory.

The striker tucked away a penalty to give his side the last after a quarter of an hour before Gayle doubled the lead eight minutes later.

His tally for the evening was doubled just before the half-hour, meaning a third of his goals for the season came in the win on Tuesday night.

Rodriguez came off to a standing ovation from the Baggies support in an evening where everything went for the forward in front of goal.
