Aston Villa's resurgence under Dean Smith has been remarkable, they've gone from a side looking devoid of ideas to a free-flowing force with serious Premier League ambition.

Even more sensational is the fact all this has been achieved with the same players that Steve Bruce had, some of which simply didn't do it for him. Now, with the shackles off and a clear game plan, the likes of Tammy Abraham, John McGinn and Albert Adomah are thriving.

One of Bruce's signings, Anwar El Ghazi, has proper pedigree having played for Ajax and it is just beginning to show through. He turned in a wonderful display against West Brom at the weekend, as our latest Spotlight piece demonstrates.

El Ghazi played all 90 minutes against the Baggies and was in the sort of form that had him marked out as a superstar at Ajax before his move to Lille in France. He scored twice, goals that really should have ensured they got all three points.

His strike rate was 50%, having had four shots at goal, but his movement and trickery was a constant thorn in the side for the Baggies. He's now got three goals in as many games and is looking to achieve his potential at long last.

He's not all about goals, he likes a dribble too, completing two during the game. With his pace and ability to drop a shoulder, that figure should increase with more game time.

The 23-year-old made four key passes too, as well as rattling off four crosses in a game which could have been defined by his skill. Anyone of those eight creative moves could have brought an assist and again, regular game time will surely see him rack a few of those up.

Even his basic passing was good, 75% accuracy over the course of the game.

He might have been a standout performer in the 2-2 draw, but he's sure to repeat that level of application time and again over the course of the coming weeks.
