Marcelo Bielsa looks set to lose Samu Saiz in the coming month, with the Leeds United attacker almost certainly returning to Spain to take up a deal with Getafe in La Liga.

Leeds’ No.14 is reportedly unhappy with life in England and hasn’t settled over the last 18 months, with the Yorkshire Evening Post confirming that a move to Getafe is on the cards for the 27-year-old.

Minus a productive August, Saiz’s impact this season has been poor, with the player not progressing like many thought he would under Bielsa.

In the last six weeks he’s started just one Championship fixture, and even then, struggled to have a huge influence against QPR.

From the outside this seems like a blow, but there’s no reason why it should be.

Here at FLW, we take a look at FOUR reasons why Saiz’s departure is actually good news for the Elland Road club…

It’s been clear for some time that something has been wrong with Saiz, with this transfer update giving a reason behind his poor form.

He’s clearly unhappy and not contributing enough.

Moving on a player in that frame of mind can only be a good thing.

The January transfer window is just around the corner, and whilst Leeds weren’t planning to do business with Saiz in the squad, things might change now.

Saiz’s departure opens up a place at Elland Road for someone to come in.

Bielsa will be able to get his claws into the market and potentially find a better replacement.

Alternatively, full faith will go into Izzy Brown, who is edging back to full fitness and waiting to take his chance in the No.10 role.

The 21-year-old is a really talented player and has the ability to be far more productive than Saiz in terms of goals.

Having him regularly in the side could really help Leeds.

Of course, losing a player mid-season is often seen as a bad thing, but you can pull positives from it.

It’d be a surprise to see Saiz feature again for Leeds, who know a good two weeks before January that they might need a replacement.

It hasn’t been thrust upon them mid-window and proper planning can take place if Bielsa wants reinforcements.
