Reading have had a rather inconsistent start to the season, but with Mark Bowen taking over the helm at the club, results have drastically improved.

The Royals will be hoping that they continue to shape their squad in the January transfer window, not just in terms of incomings, but outgoings as well. Here are FOUR Reading players who Bowen could look to shift on in January...

The Welsh full-back was exiled by Jose Gomes, but even under Bowen he has failed to get into the match day squad. Reading have one of the best right-backs in the league in Andy Yiadom, and even if he was to get injured, youngster Teddy Howe would be the next option for the Royals.

This would just be on a loan move. McIntyre has such a bright future ahead of him, and after impressing earlier on in the season, he's now finding it hard to get a place in the first-team.

Bowen even brought on Tyler Blackett when Liam Moore got injured against Millwall, which shows how far down the pecking order McIntyre now is. It'd be best if he spent the second-half of the season on loan at a top League One club then coming back with the experience of playing senior games.

It's becoming very clear that Loader isn't going to sign a contract at the Royals or he would have done so by now. The highly-rated youngster hasn't been in the team of late, and that potentially suggest where his future may lie.

At just 20-years-old he has a big career ahead of him, and with Premier League clubs swarming, it would be the right decision for Reading to cash in before his contract runs out.

This move again would be as a loan. Barrett had a great start to the campaign, and even netted twice for the Royals in their Carabao Cup victory at Plymouth. He's another highly-rated player from the academy, but isn't getting many minutes.

Bowen has to decide whether to give him a bigger role in the team, if not then the youngster should go and get game time at some of the top League One clubs.
