Luton Town suffered what could turn out to be a pivotal defeat on the weekend when they lost 3-1 at The Valley to a resurgent Charlton Athletic side.

The Hatters are now in relegation trouble, and have a big week of home games coming up as they take on both Brentford and Stoke City.

Charlton took the lead on the weekend, although Harry Cornick equalised just minutes later as he marked his return from injury with a goal. Lyle Taylor scored twice either side of Cornick's goal before George Lapslie confirmed the three points for Lee Bowyer's side.

Cornick was arguably Luton's best player throughout the 90 minutes and he showed some real good touches as he impressed in the relegation dogfight.

Despite losing the game, Cornick scored a well-taken goal to equalise straight after Taylor had put the Addicks in front. It was an excellent finish from Cornick who fired into the bottom corner after a fluffed clearance from the Charlton defence.

He made sure that 100% of his shots were on target as he continued to be Luton's main threat in the attacking third. In terms of running with the ball, he achieved a 70% dribble success rate which showed that he was a good outlet to have when Luton needed to get up the pitch.

Alongside that, he further backed that up with his progressive running. He completed four throughout the game with many of them leading into good attacking moments for the Hatters.

The goal has taken his tally up to eight for the season which is very good for a team that is struggling at the bottom of the division. He's also got three assists to backup his goals with proven creative play.

With a pass accuracy of 61% he could have slightly improved in that area, although playing as far forward as he did, it can be hard to keep the ball when swarmed with defensive pressure.

He is showing signs that he is a worthy Championship player, and if Luton do face the drop then a few other sides in the division may look to snap him up.
