Brighton & Hove Albion set the pace early on in the Championship, but have dropped back to sixth in the table in recent weeks, losing three of their last four fixtures.

Chris Hughton's side will be looking to strengthen during January's transfer window as they attempt to keep their hopes of securing automatic promotion to the Premier League alive.

The Seagulls have been draw specialists this campaign, sharing the points in 11 of their 25 matches in the Championship so far, and their goal difference is among the weakest in the top six, so some additional fire power is needed up front.

Brighton have already made additions this month, signing Anthony Knockaert from Leicester City and securing Liam Ridgewell on loan from MLS side Portland Timbers, but their could be more new arrivals at the Amex.

Serge Gnabry

The 20-year-old Arsenal midfielder is back at the Emirates after a disappointing stint with West Bromwich Albion earlier this season, having featured just three times for Tony Pulis's men.

The German has been linked with a move to Brighton since being recalled by his parent club, and having not seen any action since September, would surely be keen to play a role for Hughton.

With Jake Forster-Caskey leaving Brighton on loan, there's certainly room for a lively midfielder at the Amex, while Gnabry would likely struggle for a playing time at Arsenal.

Harrison Reed

Harrison Reed000

Southampton Academy graduate Harrison Reed hasn't seen a lot of action for Ronald Koeman this season, and with the Saints struggling to match last season's top flight form, it probably isn't the right time for the manager to be breaking in his youngsters.

The 20-year-old, who had to wait until the start of January for his first Premier League appearance this season, signed a long-term contract ahead of last season, so is part of Koeman's plans for the future, but this is an ideal opportunity for Southampton to send Reed out on loan.

The England youth international is known for his tenacity and physicality in midfield, something which could help Brighton create more chances going forward as they look to convert some of their draws into victories.

Louis Thompson

Louis Thompson7

Louis Thompson is yet to make his debut for Hughton's old club Norwich City, but the Wales Under-21 international has been a regular for Swindon Town this season, making 14 appearances in a loan spell with the League One side before returning to Carrow Road.

The midfielder joined Norwich after Hughton was fired by the Canaries in 2014, but his ability to take on a heavy workload for Swindon will likely have caught the manager's eye.

Assuming Thompson doesn't feature in Alex Neil's plans for the rest of the season, Brighton could bring in a highly-rated midfielder who will no doubt relish the challenge of playing in the Championship for the first time.

Conor McAleny

The young Everton striker has already had a loan spell in the Championship this season, but he ended up returning to the Toffees early after failing to score for a struggling Charlton Athletic.

The forward has shown promise in previous stints with Brentford and Cardiff City, so Roberto Martinez may be keen to send him back out on loan to regain his confidence in front of goal.

Tomer Hemed is the team's top scorer with six goals, so could do with some support up front, and with just one season remaining on his Everton contract, McAleny will be keen to impress Martinez for a chance to play at Goodison Park in the future.
