It promises to be an intriguing summer to say the least at Villa Park.
Following relegation from the Premier League, the club has made some positive steps forward off the field at least, with Roberto Di Matteo coming in to take the managerial reigns, and a new prospective owner in Tony Xia set to complete a takeover.
The squad which was relegated, on paper, looks more than capable of competing in the Championship, but Di Matteo will be keen to put his own marker on the team and as part of laying that marker down, he might well have to move some players on.
Last season saw something we haven’t seen often in the Premier League, and that was a team essentially chucking the towel in midway through the season. Villa went down with a whimper, and you simply have to question if some of the players were big reasons for such negative feeling at the club.
