4 Nottingham Forest players we could see leave the City Ground in the next few months

Sabri Lamouchi has had a fantastic debut season at the City Ground.

The Frenchman has his side sitting fifth with nine games left of the season and will be confident of securing a play-off place at the least if and when the 2019/20 campaign resumes.

Forest have been a bit of a surprise package this term and even if they don’t secure promotion this season, things look very bright looking ahead.

Made the play-offs twice.

The upcoming transfer window is likely to be an interesting time, as Lamouchi looks to build on his squad after his first season in charge.

Ahead of the summer, we’ve compiled a list of FOUR players that could leave the City Ground in the upcoming window…

Jordan Smith

The 25-year-old’s current Forest deal is set to expire in the summer and it is difficult to see him agreeing a new one.

Smith has fallen down the pecking order at the City Ground in recent years, featuring just twice for the Reds since the start of last season.

It looks as though the end is near for the Forest academy product.

John Bostock

Bostock was something of a left-field signing in the summer, joining on loan from Toulouse and, ultimately, it has been a gamble that hasn’t paid off.

The central midfielder has made just five appearances for Lamouchi’s side and provided one assist – it’s difficult to see where he fits in.

It is understood the Reds have an option to buy the 28-year-old but it seems very unlikely they will trigger it.

Michael Hefele

Hefele has underwhelmed since arriving from Huddersfield Town in 2018 and doesn’t look to have a place in Lamouchi’s plans.

The German defender has not played once under the Reds boss and will surely be on his way out of the club in the summer.

Matty Cash

Forest fans will not like to hear this but Cash could leave the East Midlands club this summer.

The 24-year-old has been phenomenal for the Reds this season, being utilised solely as a right-back by Lamouchi – a decision that has worked to great effect.

There was reportedly interest from West Ham United and AC Milan in January and you feel there will be more in the upcoming window.

Forest may not be able to hold onto Cash if they aren’t promoted this season.
