There's lots of exciting developments coming out of the City Ground daily, new signings and a wave of optimism the like of which hasn't been seen for years.

That won't be the only thing coming out of Nottingham Forest this summer though, many of the players that have struggled there over the past couple of seasons could find themselves surplus to requirements.

Aitor Karanka is trying to build a squad capable of finishing in the top six, maybe even the top two. He wants to ensure his name is almost as revered around the City Ground as much as that of Brian Clough. He wants to take them back to the Premier League and then, who knows what they might achieve?

With any sweeping changes coming to a club, there will be casualties, there will be players who tumble by the wayside. Jack Hobbs has already gone, as has Eric Lichaj and they certainly won't be the only ones. FLW looks at four other players likely to be heading for a Nottingham Forest exit.

35-year old Murphy must surely be one on the list of departures this summer, despite playing 27 times last season.

The former Ipswich man has had a long and varied career, but his days of making a significant impact in the Championship are over.

Grant has been out on loan with Notts County, but doesn't appear to be close to the first team picture and may be one looking to move on.

He needs regular first team football in order to develop and seeing Ryan Yates recalled from League Two last season, while he stayed put, must have told him all he needed to know about his future.

Ward was loaned out to Cardiff City last season after appearing just six times for Forest in the League. That's hardly a good springboard for first team football this coming season.

The 32-year old doesn't look to be part of the plans that Karanka has and will almost certainly move on soon.

The Bulgarian couldn't be further away from the Forest first team, in eight years he's made just 4 appearances. That wasn't too bad when he was classed as a young player, but he's 24 now and not developing.

He made on appearance on loan to Port Vale last season, conceded three and wasn't seen again. A move is surely imminent.
