Fulham have one of the best squads in the Championship on paper and under Kit Symons at the start of the season they were one of the favourites for promotion.

Fulham brought in defensive talent in the summer window with the likes of Richard Stearman, Luke Garbutt, James Husband and Chris Baird all joining with attacking talent like Ben Pringle and Tom Cairney were added also.

Symons was sacked at the start of November and after the failure of Stuart Gray, Slavisa Jokanovic was installed as manager after winning promotion with Watford the season before.

They were majorly reliant on the goals of Moussa Dembele and Ross McCormack who scored 40 between them making it the deadliest partnership in the Football League.

McCormack was nominated for Championship Player of the Season and Dembele for Young Player of the Season. Fulham were one of the highest scorers in the Championship but there defence was a shambles leaking nearly 80 goals and Jokanovic needs to fix it if they are to progress next season.

Here are the 4 most key players for Fulham next season:

Ross McCormack

With Dembele joining Celtic, the brunt of the goal scoring responsibility will fall to McCormack. He is one of the deadliest strikers in the league and his partnership with Dembele kept Fulham up and with no-one willing to stump up the £15 million asking price it looks like he will be staying.

His 23 goals in a poor Fulham side earned him a nomination for Championship Player of the Year and he comfortably won Fulham Player of the Season and really should be in the Premier League.

If Fulham do sort their defence out McCormack will be hoping to be scoring goals to help them earn promotion instead of escaping relegation.

Tom Cairney

One of the few summer signings that didn't disappoint was talented midfielder Tom Cairney who was signed from Blackburn Rovers.  The 25-year-old started 39 games and scored 8 goals making him Fulham's third highest scorer and his 6 assists, plus his positive build up play has helped McCormack and Dembele score freely.

He specializes from set pieces and has a sweet strike of the ball and came second in Fulham Player of the Season. He is very underrated by neutrals and is Fulham's best midfielder and will be majorly important next season.

Cauley Woodrow

With Matt Smith likely to go to Wolves and Dembele gone,  Fulham will be left with McCormack and Woodrow up front. Dembele stole the show up front last season scoring 17 goals and earning the Young Player of the Year award at Fulham and being nominated for Young Player of the Year in the Championship.

Woodrow only got 12 games last season but did score 4 goals and at 21 is very talented being linked to big Premier League clubs.

A regular for the England U21's, Fulham fans want to see more of him next season and it could be his chance to shine next year alongside the experienced McCormack.

Michael Madl

Madl enjoyed an impressive loan spell from Sturm Graz and secured himself a permanent deal in the summer striking up a good partnership with Stearman.

With Amorebieta likely to leave and Burn gone his role becomes crucial next season. Fulham fans love him and their biggest problem this season as their defence that leaked nearly 80 goals and almost got them relegated, but Madl impressed towards the end of last season and fans will want to see more next season.
