Phillip Cocu’s days at Derby seem limited, with the misery piling up further and a takeover almost imminent.

The Mirror have recently reported that Mel Morris is reluctant to part company with the Rams boss though, which could make for an interesting few weeks ahead at Pride Park.

Despite improved results and performances with the 3-4-3 set up, Cocu chose to revert to his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation against QPR and quite frankly fell flat on his face, angering a number of supporters.

The new owners will not be looking down on the club's position favourably and will almost inevitably clean up and clear out of the current coaching set up.

Football League World's Derby County fan Lucas Carter looks at FOUR potential managers that Derby County could target as Cocu's potential successor if they were to relieve him of his duties.

Find out who they are, on the next page....

After a number of successful seasons working under Dean Smith at Aston Villa, including beating Derby in the 2018/19 Play Off final, could John Terry be the man to take Derby back to the Premier League?

Whilst he is unproven as a manager, Terry would certainly bring vast amount of experience at the top level and winners mentality that Derby need; possibly emulating a similar effect that his former teammate Frank Lampard did at the club just over a year ago.

The Daily Mail have recently claimed that the Rams are lining up a move for the former Chelsea and England defender.

Following his dismissal at Everton, Marco Silva has been without a club since December of last year, being replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.

With his Premier League experience at Hull City and Watford as well as Everton, could Marco Silva find success at Derby like he did with Sporting Lisbon and Olympiacos or could it be another shortfall in his career?

Well known in English football, Sam Allardyce is yet to make his return to management after leaving Everton in 2018 and has not been short of offers in this time, more notably turning down Newcastle last year.

His ‘long ball’ style of play is faced criticism in the past and would possibly see the same fate at the Derby, with the clubs philosophy desiring a more fluid style of play so it depends on what Derby value more.

Howe has been out of a job since leaving Bournemouth after their relegation from the Premier League earlier this year.

Howe carries a mixed reputation with his failures at Burnley before his success at Bournemouth but does elude a shadow of doubt that he is not capable of replicating that same success somewhere else.

Whilst there could be better low-profile options available to Derby, the Abu Dhabi royal will likely be looking for a much higher profile option after lining up Jose Mourinho in their failed Newcastle takeover. The reach of the billionaire stretches very far with his vast wealth, so who could Derby realistically bring in with the unlimited resources available? Let us know in the comments below.
