Aston Villa have made a steady start to their Championship campaign, losing 1-0 to Carlos Carvalhal's Sheffield Wednesday before comfortably defeating Rotherham United by 3 goals to 0.

In all honesty, it couldn't really get much worse for the Villans, after a truly dismal campaign last term, which inevitably culminated in relegation to the second tier, for the first time since they reformation in 1993.

However, with the acquisitions of the prolific £12million man Ross MCormack, and the likes of Aaron Tshibola, James Chester, Tommy Elphick, and Pierluigi Gollini, the Villa Park faithful will be expecting nothing but a complete blitz of the EFL Championship this term.

Roberto Di Matteo has recruited well in the summer, however it's clear to see there are some cracks to paper over, what with the opening day loss, and a humiliating defeat over League two outfit Luton Town last week.

Here, FLW writer George Harbey, identifies FOUR players, that Di Matteo should look to bring into the West Midlands club on a loan deal, as the transfer window deadline draws ever closer.

Adam Armstrong

After what was a remarkable campaign on loan at Tony Mowbray's Coventry City last term, the Newcastle born striker finds himself desperately unlucky to find himself as a sporadic first team player at St. James' Park.

The Sky Blues had a memorable first half of the Sky Bet League One season last year, which ended in a deteriorating 8th placed finish, with the 19 year old being the shining light at the Ricoh Arena, netting 20 times in 40 games.

Armstrong now finds himself heavily down the pecking order up Tyneside, behind elite counterparts Dwight Gayle, Alexsandr Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez, however more than deserves his chance in the second tier, of where he will thrive under Di Matteo.

Matt Miazga

The highly rated American defender signed for Chelsea last term from New York Red Bulls, however remains unlikely to breakthrough into the first-team under Antonio Conte during this campaign.

Having only made just 2 appearances for the Blues, a loan move away from Stamford Bridge could be very likely, with the Championship a creditable destination for the 21-year-old.

Although Villa are not short in depth when it comes to defenders, after conceding three poor goals against League Two outfit Luton Town in the EFL Cup last week, Roberto Di Matteo could be tempted to add Miazga to his ranks, and to replace the deadwood of Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards.

Sheyi Ojo

Liverpool winger Ojo is seamlessly out of favour at Anfield, under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, which could galvanise a loan move away from the Premier League club, beneficial for all parties concerned.

The 19-year-old has vast Championship experience after loan spells with Wigan Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers, however it would not do the youngster any good at all playing for the development squads at Liverpool all year round.

Jordan Ayew currently occupies the right winger role, but with the Ghanian set for a move to Swansea City, Ojo could be the perfect candidate to fulfil that hole.

Jason Denayer

After enduring two impressive loan spells at Celtic and Galatasaray, it seems very unjustified as to why the 21 year old Belgian hasn't made a breakthrough into Manchester City's starting 11 thus far in his career.

Scooping up Celtic's Young Player of the Year award in their own championship winning 14/15 campaign, the commanding centre-half would be an excellent coup for Di Matteo, and with him not being evident in Pep Guardiola's plans, could be a potentially brilliant loan signing.
