As starts go for Alan Stubbs and Rotherham United, they have had it about as tough as it gets.

The Millers just about kept their place in the Sky Bet Championship at the end of last season, finishing 21st in a division many thought they would be relegated from at the start of the season.

But this time round, they might not be so lucky after being battered in their last couple of Championship games.

A 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa was followed up by with a drubbing by promotion hopefuls Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium on Tuesday evening, and it looks like the Millers have some tough times ahead.

What Stubbs needs are some players that are really going to fight to secure the club's Championship status and, to do that, he may need to go back into the transfer market.

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer Hayden Atkins identifies FOUR loan signings who could be perfect for Rotherham United...

Adam Le Fondre

This former Reading favourite is somewhat of an outcast at current club Cardiff City, and will be desperate to play some football at a club that can give him plenty of minutes.

A move to Rotherham really makes sense.

Le Fondre knows this league extremely well, and has scored goals at every level he has played at in his career. He also spent two years at Rotherham, netting 58 goals in 105 appearances between 2009 and 2011.

If the Millers are going to stay up they need a goalscorer. Le Fondre could be just that.

Paul Caddis

The one-cap Scottish international has been strangely dropped from the Birmingham City squad for their past three league games, and it is extremely unclear why.

Whether it is a bust up with the manager or something else, Birmingham fans are not sure, but it could lead to Caddis moving on this summer.

And a potential destination could be Rotherham United, who will be looking to sure up their defence after conceding 13 goals in their opening four fixtures.

Caddis is a solid enough full-back who is competent from a set-piece.

Ty Browning

This Everton youngster will be looking to break into the senior side in the coming years, but this will not be the year for him, unless injuries take their toll.

Ahead him in the pecking order are the likes of Phil Jagielka, Funes Mori and Bryan Oviedo and, even with John Stones' departure, his short-term future looks tough.

Rotherham will be looking to add to their squad, and a spell with a side expected to battle relegation could be a real experience for the 20-year-old.

Most great players start their careers with a loan move - could this be his?

Serge Gnabry

The German winger is still at Arsenal despite a disappointing couple of seasons, and his future at the Emirates Stadium looks incredibly bleak indeed.

One last loan move may be in the offing before his contract runs out, and Rotherham United should look to make a move for the pacey forward if they can persuade Arsenal to pay plenty of his wages.

He would offer them excellent directness on the flanks, and would really improve their chances of escaping relegation.
