Ipswich Town look set to settle for mid-table mediocrity - currently ten points adrift of the Championship play-off places.

The Tractor Boys have had a mixed season consolidating, but a mid-table finish in the Championship is nothing to be sniffed at.

With one eye on next season and their summer recruit ahead, could the answer to Ipswich's next big thing already be at the club?

Over the years, Ipswich have produced some top quality players from their academy, with players such as Kieran Dyer, Darren Bent and Titus Bramble coming through the Tractor Boys' academy.

In more recent years, the likes of Teddy Bishop and Luke Hyam have come out of Ipswich’s youth set up and gone on to play for the first team at Portman Road, but we look ahead to the four wonderkids that could be in the starting XI next season...

A host of clubs were keeping tabs on attacking midfielder Kai Brown earlier on in the season, but it was Ipswich Town who managed to get Brown to sign on the dotted line.

Brown was plying his trade with non-league Grays Athletic and impressing enough to even attract Premier League interest.

The 16-year-old only joined a month ago so still has a long way to go to impress at Portman Road, but highly regarded as a 'wonder-kid', we could be seeing Brown amongst the Ipswich first team in no time!

19-year-old midfielder Flynn Downes is definitely one to watch for the future. The England under 19s star made a handful of first team appearances during the early stages of the season, before being loaned out to League Two outfit Luton Town.

As well as a number of appearances for the England under-19s side along with other fellow Tractor Boys, the midfielder has been a regular in the Luton midfield during February and March.

Already breaking in to the first team in the Football League, Downes will surely be one to keep an eye out for at Portman Road next season.

Tristan Nydam recently signed a new contract at Portman Road, keeping him there until the end of the 2020/21 season after impressing with a number of appearances in the early stage of the season for the first team. Another England under 19s star, Nydam recently withdraw from the England squad due to injury, but don't expect that to hold him back.

Nydam fell out of favour during the winter months, but did find himself back on the team sheet earlier in March during Ipswich's 3-0 loss to Hull.

Definitely another player to watch for the future!

Son of former Town player Jason Dozzell, Andre Dozzell is a great product of the Tractor Boys' academy.

Making his first team debut at the age of 16, Dozzell even scored a header in his first game against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

The youngster is another Ipswich Town player from the same crop of players to feature for the England under-19s, but is currently suffering from a knee injury to keep him out.

Dozzell has made just one first team appearance this season against Birmingham City in the season opener, but the midfielder will be raring to get going once he fights back from injury.
