A ninth-placed finish represents a fantastic season for QPR and Mark Warburton will no doubt be keen to ensure his side continues to make progress in 2021/22.

Given that they lost their two key attacking players, Ebere Eze and Bright Osayi-Samuel, in consecutive windows, the R's top half Championship finish shows just what a fantastic job Warburton has done.

The impressive form they showed over the second half of the campaign and the flourish with which they've finished will fill them with confidence ahead of next season.

A top six finish will surely the be the west London club's target but Warburton will know that work will need to be done in the upcoming transfer window if they're to achieve it.

The start of the summer window is now less than a month away and with that in mind, we've highlighted eight QPR transfer dealings that we could see emerge in the next few weeks...

Huddersfield Town confirmed earlier this week that Alex Pritchard will not be offered new terms and will leave the club when his contract expires this summer.

The attacking midfielder has struggled to make a significant impact for the Terriers but doesn't seem to be short of suitors, with sources informing Football League World that the R's are among them.

With question marks over whether the likes of loanees Sam Field and Stefan Johansen will be back at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium next season, it would not be a huge surprise to see the club move for Pritchard soon.

Warburton was in charge at Brentford when the playmaker scored 12 goals and added seven assists in the 2014/15 campaign, so that reunion could bring back the best in the 28-year-old.

An attacking midfielder may well be coming in but could one be leaving as well?

Ilias Chair has stepped out of Eze and Osayi-Samuel's shadow this season and become a key player – missing just one Championship game all season while adding eight goals and four assists.

The 23-year-old appears to have turned heads across Europe, with The Athletic reporting that Watford, Bologna, Genoa, Anderlecht, and Club Brugge are interested in him.

Chair's current deal runs until 2025, with the option of a further year, so the R's are in a strong negotiating position.

However, Voetball 24 has indicated that the west London club would be willing to let him leave for around €15 million (£12.9m).

If a bid in that region was made soon, it would make sense for QPR to cash and reinvest that money in the squad.

Another player whose contract is set to expire this summer, Aston Villa left-back Neil Taylor is reportedly on QPR's radar.

The problem they face is that Stoke City, Turkish duo Istanbul Basaksehir and Trabzonspor, and clubs in both Qatar and Saudi Arabia are thought to be keen.

Taylor would make an excellent addition for Warburton, having proven his quality in the Championship previously and won promotion to the Premier League twice.

It's likely to all come down to whether the defender gets significant offers from abroad or is willing to take a pay cut to move to the second tier.

If he is, then the R's could be in luck.

Seny Dieng has solved Warburton's goalkeeping issue this season and has cemented his place as one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The 26-year-old's future does seem unclear, however, with both Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Leeds United linked back in January, and West Ham United reportedly weighing up a summer bid.

Losing Dieng would certainly be a blow but the prospect of Premier League football could well turn his head.

If that happens and a significant offer is made, the R's may feel it's in their best interest to offload and move on.

Doing such a deal early would give them time to find a proper replacement.

Signing Charlie Austin on loan from West Bromwich Albion in January proved a fantastic move and seemed to kick-start the west London club's impressive form in the second half of the season.

With the striker out of contract at Albion in the summer, a permanent deal seems as though it could well be on the cards.

The 31-year-old revealed recently that talks are ongoing with QPR over his future and added: "Everybody knows how I and my family feel about the football club. But it’s what direction myself and the club want to go in. Hopefully, we can meet and who knows what will happen.”

It wouldn't be a surprise to see this wrapped up fairly soon, given his contract situation.

The second goalkeeper on this list, Liam Kelly has impressed so much on loan at Motherwell since January that the Scottish club are now keen to sign him again in the summer, according to the Daily Record.

The 25-year-old's departure in the January window illustrates that he's excess to requirements at the moment at QPR.

That could change if one of Warburton's other keepers left but even so, you feel Kelly doesn't have much of a future at the west London club.

With two years left on his current deal at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, the R's may want to look to cash in now.

Swindon Town playmaker Scott Twine could well be on the move soon, with his contract situation with the South West club not yet sorted.

At the moment, Twine is set to become a free agent and on the back of a hugely impressive 2020/21 campaign, it's no surprise that clubs are lining up to snap him up.

According to The Sun on Sunday (04/04:p61), QPR are among the sides in pursuit and you feel they could be well placed to land him.

The 21-year-old just needs to look at the progression of the likes of Eze, Osayi-Samuel, Chair, and Chris Willock at the club in recent years to see what a positive place it can be for young attackers.

His contract situation means Twine could be one of the first signings of the summer, should the R's land him.

If there were some unconvinced by Lyndon Dykes heading into the final few months of the season, the Scotsman's hot form in the run-in will surely have changed their minds.

The striker scored seven goals and added four assists in the R's final 10 games of the Championship campaign, illustrating that the 25-year-old seems to have found his feet in the English second tier.

That run seems to have caught the attention of Burnley, Fulham, and West Bromwich Albion ahead of the summer window.

QPR may want to capitalise on his stock being high at the moment, especially if a good offer comes in.
