It already seems certain that the summer transfer window will be a rather eventful one at Ipswich Town.

Following an underwhelming season that saw the Tractor Boys fall short in their bid for promotion to the Championship, with manager Paul Cook not holding back in his assessment of his squad in the wake of some hugely disappointing performances, we could be about to see plenty of change at Portman Road.

Indeed, reports have already claimed that Cook has told the vast majority of Ipswich's players that they are free to find other clubs once the transfer market reopens, even if they are under contract in East Anglia.

As a result, it seems as though there will be a significant numbers of signings and sales at Ipswich over the next few months.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look here at four players we could see join Ipswich, and four players we could see leave the club, once the transfer market has reopened.

We start this list between the posts, where one target to have been linked with a move to Ipswich ahead of the summer transfer window, is Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist.

With goalkeeping duo Thomas Holy and David Cornell among those who have been told to find new clubs this summer, Ipswich are going to need to add to their options with the gloves, and Siegrist could be a decent candidate to fill that role.

The Swiss stopper has made just over 100 appearances for Dundee United since joining in 2018, helping them to promotion to the Scottish Premiership last season, and with a year remaining on his contract at Tannadice, it has been suggested that Siegrist could be available for a fee of around £400,000.

Along with Siegrist, reports have also suggested that Ipswich could target winger Owen Dale from League One rivals Crewe Alexandra when the market reopens.

Dale has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign at League One level this season, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists in 43 league appearances, so he could be capable of making an impact in attack at Portman Road.

Championship duo Blackburn and Preston, as well as League One play-off hopefuls Sunderland, have also been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old, although his rumoured valuation of £600,000 could at least be affordable for Ipswich, with the club's new owners expected to back Cook in the market this summer.

One familiar face who we could see make a return to Portman Road this summer, comes in the shape of Tottenham striker Troy Parrott.

After cutting short a loan deal with Championship side Millwall midway through last season, Parrott spent the second-half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan with the Tractor Boys, scoring twice in 18 appearances for the club.

Despite that somewhat underwhelming goals return for a striker of his potential, Football League World exclusively revealed last month that Ipswich are keen to bring Parrott back on loan next season, with parent club Spurs willing to consider such an agreement, thanks to the improvements the 19-year-old has made while with the club.

Ipswich have lacked a really prolific goalscorer this season, so it is perhaps no surprise that attack is an area they are keen to strengthen this summer.

Indeed, another target that has reportedly emerged as a potential candidate to add to the Tractor Boys' attacking firepower for next season, is Conor McAleny, who scored 21 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions for League Two Oldham Athletic during the 2020/21 campaign.

McAleny only signed a one-year deal with the Latics last summer, meaning he could be available for free in the coming weeks if no deal is agreed, and that is something that could help Ipswich from a financial perspective as well when it comes to their transfer business.

One Ipswich player who has apparently been told to find a new club this summer, and may have a chance of doing that, is Andre Dozzell.

Despite seemingly not having a future at Portman Road, Dozzell has been the subject of some significant transfer speculation this season, with Championship duo Blackburn Rovers and QPR both credited with an interest in the central midfielder in recent months.

The news therefore that he could be available may spark something of a race for his signature, meaning that with three years remaining on his contract at Portman Road, Ipswich could receive a rather welcome transfer fee for the 22-year-old.

One man who seemingly finds himself in a similar position to Dozzell at Portman Road heading into the summer transfer window, is Luke Woolfenden.

The centre back is another of the club's young contingent who has apparently been told to find a new side in the coming months, and he too may be confident about doing that, having previously been linked with the likes of Crystal Palace and Sheffield United.

With Palace facing the challenge of replacing a long list of out of contract players, and the Blades looking to rebuild after relegation from the Premier League, you wonder whether that could spark fresh interest in Woolfenden, who has three years remaining on his contract at Portman Road, meaning he too could fetch a rather useful fee for Ipswich.

Despite only seeing the option to extend his contract by another 12 months triggered by Ipswich earlier this week, Kayden Jackson is another who could be on his way out of the club this summer.

The striker has apparently also been told to look for a move elsewhere, having narrowly missed out on a potential move to Championship side Huddersfield in the final few hours of this season's winter transfer window.

With the Terrier having recently released two strikers in Yaya Sanogo and Oumar Niasse, they may once again be tempted to make a move for Jackson, and that extension Ipswich have just taken up in his contract means the Tractor Boys are now at least in a position to receive a fee for him.

Ironically, it seems that one of the few players Ipswich may actually be keen on keeping this summer, could also leave Portman Road before the start of next season.

The Tractor Boys are said to be in talks about a new deal for Gwion Edwards, with the winger's current contract set to expire in the next few weeks, although there may be no guarantee they will seal that agreement.

As exclusively revealed by Football League World earlier this week, MK Dons have held talks with Edwards over a potential move, while Sunderland and Preston have also been credited with an interest, meaning there are plenty of other options available for Edwards should he want to move elsewhere this summer.
