Grimsby Town are on the lookout for a new manager following the departure of Ian Holloway this morning.

Holloway took to Twitter and revealed that he would be resigning as manager, following a turbulent start to the season both on and off the pitch.

Grimsby have won only one of their last six games, and sit only six points clear of the relegation zone, with teams below them having games in hand.

Grimsby, then, will be looking to find a replacement for Holloway, as they look to resolve their ownership issues off the pitch.;

Here, we take a look at FOUR ideal replacements for Ian Holloway who Grimsby should consider as soon as possible...

Flitcroft is a really good manager at this level.

He's won promotion from League Two before with Bury, and he came very close to taking Mansfield up via the play-offs in 2018/19.

His style of football sees his teams get on the front foot and attack, and he could be the right man for the job.

Could there be a surprise return for Paul Hurst?

Hurst led Grimsby to promotion from the National League in 2016, before leaving for Shrewsbury Town the following year.

His spells at Ipswich Town and Scunthorpe United didn't go to plan, but could there be unfinished business at Blundell Park for the 46-year-old?

Ricketts may be looking to prove his doubters wrong and get back into management after recently being sacked by Shrewsbury.

He did show glimpses of being a really progressive and impressive coach during his time with the Shropshire club, and perhaps needs another crack at it.

He's only 39 and could be an exciting long-term appointment as the club prepare for a new future under new ownership.

Could Grayson be the man to turn things around at Grimsby?

The 51-year-old has, admittedly, had a couple of turbulent spells in charge of Bradford and Blackpool recently.

But he is an experienced manager who has been in charge of some very high-profile clubs, and has excelled in divisions above this one.
