Things are looking bleak for Sunderland and it seems as though League One is really starting to beckon.

The Black Cats have only nine points left to play for with them six points from safety and so relegation to the third tier is looking more than likely.

Certainly, it's not been a good season for the men from Wearside and Chris Coleman - providing he stays - will be looking to rebuild the squad - even if they stay up.

With that said, then, our latest FLW Spotlight looks at a player that they might benefit from getting in - Danny Ward.

Ward has featured for Cardiff a fair few times during their promotion challenging campaign but it's clear that he's not played as much as he would have liked.

With the Bluebirds performing so well, Neil Warnock has often sought to keep his starting line-up as consistent as possible meaning the likes of Ward have less of a chance to impress.

He is a good player, though, who works hard and has a good end product and would surely offer a great deal to Sunderland.

Whether he'd want to drop down a league with the Black Cats - as is likely - remains to be seen but he is certainly the sort of player they should be targeting.
