The transfer window has closed, but there is still scope to agree deals with free agents who are still able to move freely without restriction.

Neil Harris’ men have not had the best of starts to the new season, and if that continues, the Lions boss might look to add a couple of unattached players to his side to boost competition and look to get his side back to winning ways.

Murray Wallace, Ben Amos, Jiri Skalak, Jem Karacan, Tom Bradshaw and Ryan Leonard have all joined during the window as Millwall look to improve on their eighth-placed finished of last season.

The campaign is still only six games old, so there might be a nagging doubt in any manager’s head that they still need a few additions, and the unattached market is the only way forward from now until January.

Short-term deals are there to be had as well as more extended contracts should the player be deemed worthy of one.

With that said, there are four free agents available to Millwall that’d be really useful signings.

Ability never leaves you, and in Ross Wallace, Millwall would be getting an experienced Championship professional.

He can deliver pinpoint crosses as well as hit a shot from anywhere that has the potential to go in the back of the net.

Wallace would be useful at The Den for his tenacious style of play that resonates with Lions’ fans, despite a lack of the pace he once had.

The winger would be good competition for the likes of Aiden O’Brien and Jed Wallace and would be able to teach them a thing or two if Neil Harris decided on the move.

Kazenga Lua Lua has been a thorn in Millwall’s side for years during his time at Brighton and Hove Albion.

The winger invariably scored against the Lions and was a tricky customer to handle.

His power and pace coupled with his direct style of play would make him a crowd favourite, so long as he put in the effort that Millwall fans demand.

He would be useful for Neil Harris to have around as an impact player.

After his release from Blackburn Rovers, Peter Whittingham is without a club and he has the ability still to operate in the Championship.

Despite the sale of George Saville, Millwall’s bread and butter is to bring in players on free transfers and loans, and the former Cardiff City man would over Neil Harris something.

He is a set-piece specialist and could be useful for the Lions as an option from the bench late on.

Lee Gregory is adept at winning fouls, and if he did so outside the area, you would expect Whittingham to bury any type of free-kick.

It would be worth pursuing a deal until the end of the season, or January at the earliest.

Millwall have been interested in the now free agent before, but the midfielder chose Birmingham City where he had a pretty decent spell.

David Cotterill would be a useful option for Neil Harris, with his experience and ability in the midfield.

Despite Jem Karacan and Ryan Leonard joining, if Shaun Williams or Ryan Tunnicliffe were to pick up an injury or suspension, there would be a need for cover.

Adding the former Wales international would be a useful signing, should Neil Harris pursue it.
