The transfer window has closed, but there is still scope to agree deals with free agents who are still able to move freely without restriction.

Tony Mowbray’s side still resembles that which were relegated from the Championship two years ago, having managed to keep the majority of their squad together.

Minimal additions last season and this campaign also, means the club have kept the nucleus of the current side together, and that has shown with the decent start to the campaign.

The season is still only six games old, so there might be a nagging doubt in any manager’s head that they still need a few additions, and the unattached market is the only way forward from now until January.

Short-term deals are there to be had as well as more extended contracts should the player be deemed worthy of one.

With that said, there are four free agents available to Blackburn Rovers that’d be really useful signings.

Having had plenty of interest, Bakary Sako is still without a club.

Blackburn Rovers could do with the width, pace and power the former Crystal Palace winger would bring.

It would be a seemingly low-risk move and would have the potential to be a class signing should Tony Mowbray make a late play for the free agent.

Having released Peter Whittingham, there is a space free for a winger to enter Ewood Park.

The former Tottenham, QPR and Dundee defender is without a club which is a surprise, and Tony Mowbray should look to snap him up.

Dependable in defence and full of experience, the one-time England international would be an astute signing if Mowbray were to look to sign him up.

He would be the perfect partner at the back for Charlie Mulgrew.

After the 4-1 hammering at the hands of Bristol City the other week, the defence might be questioned, and in Jam Kirchhoff, Blackburn could be getting a no-nonsense defender who would improve their ranks and add another option.

After promotion, last term, the aim for Blackburn would be to remain in the Championship and being defensibly sound will go along way to making that happen.

Tony Mowbray should look at getting a deal over the line.

Leeds United had held an interest in the striker who is without a club since his release from Capri in the summer.

The powerful forward would add another dimension to the attack at Ewood Park with Danny Graham, Ben Brereton and Adam Armstrong all similar types of players.

The signing of the 25-year-old would add pace and power in abundance; his physicality would be something that is lacking a little in the final third at Blackburn.

Still without a club and interest seemingly dwindling, now could be the time for Tony Mowbray to snap up the free agent in what would be a useful addition.
