Blackburn Rovers are set to return to action after the international break on Saturday afternoon, when they host Huddersfield Town at Ewood Park.

Having taken just a single point from their last three league games, Rovers will be looking for something of a response against the Terriers, who come here in much better form than their hosts.

Danny Cowley's side make the trip across the Pennines having gone unbeaten in their last three, picking up their first wins of the season with back to back victories over Stoke and Hull in the final two games before the break.

As a result, this will not be an easy challenge for Tony Mowbray's side, although the Blackburn boss will still be keen to start the week on a high.

Here, we look at the starting XI Mowbray could name to take on Huddersfield on Saturday.

While we imagine the 4-2-3-1 system employed by Mowbray for much of the season will remain unchanged, there will inevitably be changes to Rovers' starting XI this weekend, not all of which will be enforced.

Things should stay the same in goal for Rovers however, with Brighton loanee Christian Walton long since nailing down the number one spot at Ewood Park for this season.

There will however, be plenty of change in Rovers' defence, with left-back Greg Cunningham and centre back Darragh Lenihan both picking up long-term injuries in the 4-2 defeat to QPR in the final game before the international break.

In their places ought to be Amari'i Bell and Manchester City loanee Tosin Adarabioyo respectively, with Derrick Williams - fresh from a two-minute cameo while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland - and captain Elliott Bennett, who is one booking away from a suspension, completing the back four.

We also expect there to be changes in the holding midfield areas for Blackburn, where Bradley Johnson and Lewis Travis should re-establish the effective partnership they had been developing in the early part of the season.

That ought to give Rovers' slightly makeshift defence more protection than the pair that performed those roles at QPR: Stewart Downing and Corry Evans.

It will also allow Evans a rest following a busy international break with Northern Ireland, and for Downing to push further forward to a role where his attacking abilities could be more effective.

Alongside Downing in those attacking midfield roles will surely be Bradley Dack and Adam Armstrong, who look to be Blackburn's greatest goal-scoring threats right now, having shared six goals equally between them in Rovers' last five games. That would mean that Joe Rothwell would be the one to drop out of the XI, following his difficult afternoon at QPR.

Leading the line ahead of them is likely to be Danny Graham, with the veteran striker's experience of playing alongside the likes of Dack and Armstrong potentially crucial as Rovers look to establish an attacking link-up to get the goals they need to return to winning ways.
