European Championships and World Cups always double up as a shop window.

An opportunity for some lesser known names to impress and earn themselves a move.

Buying off the back of a major tournament can be a risky strategy but also offers clubs the chance to take a gamble on a player, they might not have otherwise considered.

The Championship has a staggering 36 players representing the league at this summer's European Championships in France.

That is simply testament to how far the league has come since its inception and the increasing quality of players in the second tier.

More competition can only be healthy for the Championship - bridging the gap to the top flight.

With three teams progressing from most of the groups, it just gives certain players more time to showcase their talents and earn themselves some attention.

Here are FOUR players currently playing in the Championship who might have tempted other clubs to sign them...

Martin Olsson

Norwich left back Martin Olsson was solid in an underwhelming Swedish side who bowed out at the group stage.

Following Norwich's relegation to the Championship, Olsson might opt to move away from Carrow Road to play at a higher level.

The 28-year-old has recently been linked with a move to Turkish giants Besiktas.

Olsson has amassed in excess of 100 appearances for Norwich since joining from Blackburn in 2013.

Chris Gunter

Wales have been a surprise package at this year's European Championships - pipping England to top spot in Group B and progressing to the quarter finals.

Chris Gunter has been a mainstay at right wing back in a fluid 5-3-2 formation and is expected to leave Reading this summer.

The 26-year-old has played over 150 times for the Berkshire club but has been linked with moves to Swansea and Leeds.

Jeff Hendrick

Everton, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are all circling around Derby midfielder Jeff Hendrick after his impressive performances at Euro 2016.

The central midfielder has played at Derby his whole career and earned over 200 appearances for the Rams but might look to step up to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has shone in recent games for the Republic of Ireland and would be more than competent playing in the top flight.

Robbie Brady

This would be a classic case of signing someone on the back of a major tournament.

As Republic of Ireland crashed out with a 2-1 loss to France, Robbie Brady emerged as a national hero.

His late headed goal against Italy earned the Irish a place in the knockout stages and his early penalty had them dreaming of beating France for a while.

The truth is that Brady offers much more than that and would actually be a very good signing for a Premier League club.

The versatile 24-year-old is comfortable at left back, all across the midfield and has even played behind the striker for Ireland.

Leicester City have recently been named among the admirers for the ex-Hull City man.
