Cardiff City moved back into second place on Saturday evening with a tough fought 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at home.

The momentum shifted back in Cardiff's favour in the race for second place after Fulham had leapfrogged them on Friday night with an impressive 3-0 win over in-form play-off hopefuls Millwall.

The hunt for automatic promotion looks set to go right down to the wire, although Cardiff can ease any concerns with victory over Derby County tomorrow night, which would give them a four point cushion over Fulham with two games remaining.

Whether they win promotion or not, though, it has been a tremendous season for the South Welsh outfit.

Cardiff have not had the best record of bringing through young players and they have recently had a shake-up behind the scenes in order to improve the first team prospects for their academy.

Here are four stars who could have a breakthrough season for Cardiff next year.

Mark Harris is probably Cardiff's most exciting young talent on their books.

The Wales under-21 international plays as a midfielder and he has weighed in with goals and assists for the youth side this season.

The 19-year-old will now be hoping to add to his three senior appearances for the Bluebirds.

Cameron Coxe made his first team debut for Cardiff earlier in the season, playing 90 minutes in the Bluebirds' loss against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup.

The Wales under-21 international is held with high regard at the club and could be handed more first team opportunities next year.

The 19-year-old likes to get forward from right back and this could be a good option for Neil Warnock to consider.

Another full back who will be hoping to impress Warnock in January is 20-year-old Rhys Abbruzzese.

The left back is a regular in Cardiff's youth teams and could be handed an opportunity if Joe Bennett suffers an injury or a loss of form.

The Wales under-21 international is tipped to be a future first team player for his national side and Cardiff could be about to benefit from his services.

Ogo Obi has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United in the past but now Cardiff have the former Watford striker in their ranks.

The 19-year-old is a strong and pacey forward, who can also play as a winger, and he could get his chance in the first team if he impressed Warnock in pre-season.

Cardiff have Kenneth Zohore up front but if they suffer a couple of injuries in the attacking department, Obi could find his way onto the bench.
