Bolton Wanderers' survival chances in League One this season are fading away at a rapid rate it seems.

The Trotters were beaten by high-flying Wycombe Wanderers in their last league match, which leaves them struggling in the third-tier relegation zone.

Keith Hill's side are sat bottom of the League One table, and are 19 points adrift of safety, with 17 games remaining of their league campaign still.

They have got games in hand over some of their relegation rivals this season, but whether the Trotters have enough depth in their squad to cope with that demand over a short space of time, is a completely different story.

It seems as though relegation is only going to be confirmed in a matter of time, but the club's supporters will be hoping that their side can go down with a fight after a turbulent season on and off the pitch.

In the mean time, we take a look at FOUR Bolton Wanderers talking points following a hectic week of League One football.

Hill has revealed that survival in League One is unlikely, and even the most optimistic of Bolton supporters will have to agree with him.

The defeat to Wycombe means that Bolton are now 19 points adrift of safety, and it would be nothing short of a miracle if they were to survive in League One this season.

There's no doubting that it's been a league campaign to forget for Bolton, and it'll be interesting to see if Hill opts to stick around with the club after this frustrating season on and off the pitch.

Bolton's Under-23s side have struggled for confidence this season, which is understandable given the lack of depth in the majority of the Trotters' teams.

They're currently sat bottom of their respective league, and only have one win to their name in the 20 games they have played this term, so it's been a season to forget.

You have to question as to whether the future is bright for Bolton, as some of the younger players in the squad are clearly struggling at this moment in time.

The likes of Joe Bunney, Jacob Mellis (pictured) and Ryan Delaney were all involved for Bolton's Under-23s recently against Wigan, but they were beaten by a goal to nil.

The lack of confidence in some of the senior players is there for all to see, as Bolton were second-best for the majority of the contest against Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend.

If the senior players can't make a positive impact for the Under-23s, then it doesn't bode well for the senior side, as they look to retain their League One status this season.

The experienced defender came through his first full 90 minutes of action against Wycombe Wanderers after a lengthy injury lay-off, and he'll be hoping to get further minutes under his belt as the season progresses.

They've badly missed a player that can lead an inexperienced group of players, and his return has come at the ideal time, as Bolton look to put together a positive run of form in League One.

Keith Hill has had to make do with a number of young players this season, but it's good to have a player of Hobbs' experience and quality back in the fold.
