With only a limited programme in the EFL this week, all eyes are on the weekend when we get back to action across all the divisions.

Here though we highlight the four biggest EFL stories of the day........

A new report in French daily sport newspaper l’Equipe has continued to stoke rumours of a major Leeds United takeover suggesting that PSG owners Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) remain interested in buying the club from its current chairman, Andrea Radrizzani.

Rumours of the interest first emerged over the summer, with suggestions that chairman of QSI and the Middle East based BeIn Media Group, Nasser Al-Khelaifi was personally discussing a potential takeover with Radrizzani.

Preston North End have opened contract talks with goalkeeper Declan Rudd amid interest from SPFL side Rangers according to Football Insider, with the Gers weighing up a move for the 28-year-old following a string of impressive performances for Preston.

Preston are keen to keep hold of their star goalkeeper and it is believed that negotiations are underway in regards to discussing a new deal, with his current contract expiring next summer.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk faces a battle if he wants to hold onto his young goalkeeper Cameron Dawson who is a target of Rangers in the SPFL, plus three other Championship sides according to the Sheffield Star.

Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Preston are all keen on the 24-year-old, whose contract at Hillsborough expires in the summer.

Derby County face going head to head with Cardiff City in the January transfer window, with both clubs keen on Ayr United attacker Luke McGowan, according to a report on Football Insider.

The youngster has been in fine form in the Scottish Championship this season and that has put a number of clubs south of the border on alert.
