With the busy Christmas schedule looming, here we catch our breath and look at the four biggest EFL stories of the day.....

Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer, speaking exclusively to the South London Press, has stated that striker Lyle Taylor has turned down a new contract, though the player has suggested on Twitter that he had not been offered terms by the Championship side.

Taylor was the subject of repeated bids during the summer transfer window and recently has been linked with West Bromwich Albion and Rangers.

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, a player who has struggled for game time since making the move to the Gunners almost two years ago.

Mavropanos has made just three appearances for Arsenal this season, two of those for their U21's in the Football League Trophy and the other in last week’s 2-2 draw with Standard Liege, but according to Greek media outlet Sportime, there is interest from Olympiacos, plus “Nottingham has also come into the game now”.

Stoke City are hoping Sheffield United will take back Mark Duffy and find him another loan move next month, with the 34-year-old veteran having fallen completely off the map since Michael O’Neill took charge of the Potters, according to a report in the Stoke Sentinel.

Stoke will be banking on Sheffield United’s goodwill towards Duffy, hoping it persuades them to find him another loan move for the second half of the season.

Leeds United loanee Jack Clarke should find out soon where he will be playing his football over the second half of the season, as heads to Tottenham this weekend to meet Spurs manager Jose Mourinho for the first time, according to Football Insider.

The winger has been invited to the club’s new stadium to watch Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea and will hold talks with Mourinho, who has yet to meet Clarke since being appointed the new manager last month.
