The busy Christmas EFL football schedule gets underway shortly but before a feast of festive football kicks off, we take a look at the four biggest EFL stories of the day...........

Nottingham Forest defender Chema could have kicked his last football in anger for Sabri Lamouchi's side, with the 27-year-old in advanced talks over a move to Spanish side Almeira, according to a report from Spanish media outlet Diariode Almeria.

Chema only arrived at the City Ground in the summer from Levante, but due to the form of Michael Dawson, Joe Worrall and Tobias Figuieredo, who have helped the Reds maintain a largely solid shape throughout the first half of the campaign, his chances have been limited.

Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate has seen Peterborough United laugh off an offer of less than £500,000 from Boro for midfield star Marcus Maddison, according to a report on TEAMtalk.

Maddison is out-of-contract next summer and can leave in January if a club bids £2.5million, so it is hardly surprising that Boro's offer of £350,000 was rejected by the Posh.

A number of clubs including Brentford, Derby, Bristol City and West Brom are amongst the clubs considering whether to meet the asking price for the 26-year-old next month.

Stoke City midfielder Badou Ndiaye is having a medical at the the Turkish club Trabzonspor this week, according to Football Insider, after the two clubs reached a loan-to-buy deal, which will see the Stoke man leave the Potters until the end of the season at least.

New Stoke boss Michael O’Neill has given the Senegal international the green light to leave as he looks to reshape the squad at the Bet365 Stadium and significantly reduce his wage bill, with Trabzonspor one of a number of European clubs racing to sign the player beating the likes of the German clubs Schalke and Mainz.

Former Stoke and Luton manager Nathan Jones has turned down the chance to return to work as the new manager of Bristol Rovers, according to reports on BristolLive.

The 46-year-old is said to have spoken to Rovers chief executive Martyn Starnes about the vacancy, with the pair having previously worked together at Yeovil Town, but Jones, who was sacked by Stoke in November has sidestepped the opportunity for now.
