Another weekend of fixtures have passed and there was plenty of action and a fair share of shocks throughout the EFL, here though we pause briefly to consider the four biggest EFL stories of the day........

Barnsley have issued a strongly-worded statement regarding former manager Daniel Stendel's departure, following his appointment as the new manager of Hearts.

The Championship side has accused the German coach of violating his contract as well as claiming there had been two months of "unproductive discussions" over Stendel's exit. They also touched upon their attempts "to no avail" to negotiate a settlement with Hearts to allow Stendel and his back-room staff of Chris Stern and Dale Tonge to take up roles at Tynecastle.

Newcastle United, ​Burnley, ​Sheffield United and ​Brighton and Hove Albion from the Premier League plus Championship pace-setters Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion are all in the hunt for Hull City star man Jarrod Bowen.

The 22-year-old winger has been in great form in the Championship again this season, scoring 15 goals and three assists in 20 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer faces a battle against time to get striker Lyle Taylor to sign a new deal at the Valley, with a host of clubs lining up for the player whose contract expires next summer, according to TEAMtalk.

Burnley, Sheffield United, Norwich, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City are just some of the clubs interested in the 29-year-old who has scored five goals in seven appearances so far this season.

A number of top-flight sides including Newcastle United, Leicester City and Fulham are keen on signing Charlton Athletic striker Macauley Bonne, according to a report from talkSPORT.

The 24-year-old who arrived from Leyton Orient in the summer, has made a good start to life under Lee Bowyer with six goals in 14 appearances in the Championship, having moved up the pecking order following injury to Lyle Taylor.
