The transfer window may be closed but that does not mean there is not plenty going on in the EFL, here we look at the four biggest EFL news stories of the day......

Birmingham City have taken former West Brom midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu on trial, as reported by The Birmingham Mail, with the 33-year-old being brought in to help the Blues address a shortage in central midfield following the long-term injury suffered by Josh McEachran and David Davis’ departure on loan.

Mulumbu is currently a free agent following his release by Celtic and he will play for Blues in an under 23’s match against Crewe.

Blackpool have named Liverpool Under-23s boss Neil Critchley as their head coach on a contract until the end of the 2022-23 season, it has been confirmed on the club's official website.

Critchley, 41, twice took charge of Liverpool's first team this season, for a 5-0 Carabao Cup defeat by Aston Villa and then a 1-0 FA Cup fourth-round replay win over Shrewsbury and he succeeds Simon Grayson, who was sacked in February.

Veteran boss Neil Warnock is being lined up as replacement for Paul Lambert if Ipswich Town fail to arrest their alarming slump in form, it has been reported in the print edition of The Sunday Mirror (March 1st, Page 74).

Lambert signed a new five-year deal on New Year's Day, but it's understood there are performance-related break clauses in that contract and a general cap on the pay-off required to part company with both the Blues boss and his staff should owner Marcus Evans decide a change is needed in the hot-seat.

Former QPR centre-back Nedhum Onuoha has given a positive report on current QPR star Eberechi Eze and is keen to see the forward have a go at a higher level.

On how the club have performed so far this campaign and the players currently being utilised, ex-QPR defender Nedhum Onuoha told Matt Beadle and Miles Blumsom on the Fans Forum on Love Sport Radio, that the club have a bright future if key youngsters can be held onto.

Speaking specifically about 21-year-old Eberechi Eze, who has been a star in the Hoops' campaign, Onuoha was full of praise for his former teammate and reckons if he was to go, Rs fans wouldn't hold anything against him.
