After suffering play-off agony last season, Aston Villa may have to rethink their strategy this time around.

Steve Bruce's side lost out in the big match against Fulham, but the wider cost is yet to be calculated. Their ongoing financial situation isn't entirely clear, but they won't be able to buy their way into the top six, that is for certain.

If anything, they'll become a selling club of sorts, still a huge draw for players at this level but not a financial powerhouse able to out muscle their rivals. it isn't an ideal situation, but other teams are in the same boat and enjoy success too.

All things considered, Villa will probably see more big names going out of the club than coming in. One big sale could raise enough funds for a reasonable summer, if the money isn't filtered away to plug other gaps.

FLW have identified four players Villa will surely look to move on this summer, to ease their financial woes.

It won't be popular, but local boy Jack Grealish will surely be one who goes.

He's highly saleable and would generate a big sum of money in one swoop. It would weaken their attacking options and be a huge wrench for the player, but it is all-but inevitable.

Bruce and McCormack simply don't see eye to eye and the £12m misfit is sure to be on his way this summer.

Villa won't recoup their money, they probably won't even get 25% back, but the wage saving would be worth the transfer alone.

The Icelandic international didn't really impress in the World Cup, but by virtue of being there he'll be much better known. That makes him saleable and, considering he was on the fringes last season, a move is likely.

They might get a couple of million for the former Sampdoria player and that would suit Villa just fine.

20-year old Bree hasn't broken through at Villa, not to the extent of former Barnsley team mate Conor Hourihane, and that could be his downfall.

He's young and could well look to League One for a switch, maybe even his former side Barnsley. He'll need to be playing games and at present, that isn't the case.
