Bristol City continued their good start to the Sky Bet Championship season on Sunday, with Lee Johnson’s side beating Blackburn Rovers 4-1 at Ashton Gate.

Johnson’s side had gone behind, but goals from Josh Brownhill, Marley Watkins, Famara Diedhiou and Marlon Pack turned the game around and left the Robins in the play-offs heading into the international break.

The returning Diedhiou, who has been serving a suspension for spitting, is the latest feature of our FLW Spotlight:

Diedhiou stepped off the bench for 23 minutes of yesterday’s contest, with the striker scoring a goal from his only shot in that time.

The 25-year-old won four aerial duels, whilst also making eight passes and one key pass.

Those passes weren’t quite as accurate as Johnson would’ve liked, however, with Diedhiou completing just 50%.

The Verdict

Diedhiou was stupid to land himself a spitting ban but the striker looks like he is back with a point to prove.

The 25-year-old was a nuisance against the Blackburn defence, showing his goalscoring instincts with a good strike.

It’s been a good start to the season for Johnson’s side, but they could go from strength-to-strength with Diedhiou back on board.

Last year, the striker scored 13 Championship goals during his first year in English football, which he will be looking to better this year.

If Diedhiou can do that, as well as keep himself out of trouble, the striker could be influential for Johnson’s side.
