Cardiff City made the perfect start for their new manager Neil Warnock, with a 2-1 victory over rivals Bristol City on Friday night.
Although the Bluebirds were pinned back for the majority of the game as the Robins dominated the possession of the ball, they remained very disciplined and kept Bristol City’s key players Tammy Abraham and Lee Tomlin fairly quiet.
Goals from Peter Whittingham and Sol Bamba secured the three points for the Welsh side, but were made to sweat in the final 20 minutes as Lee Tomlin replied with a thunderous strike for the Robins.
Warnock’s men face another stern test at home to Sheffield Wednesday who once again look a strong force under Carlos Carvalhal.
After a much-needed win for the Welsh side, the atmosphere is expected to be electric once again that could contribute to Warnock maintaining his 100% record for Cardiff.
