After starting the season promisingly by picking up four points from tough games against Aston Villa, Norwich, and Sheffield Wednesday will be bitterly disappointed that their progress was stunted with underwhelming losses against Burton Albion and Leeds.

Carlos Carvalhal will be desperate to get his side back on track as the Owls aim for promotion this season.

They currently sit 20th in the table with 4 points from 4 games as the league is already blown wide open.

This weekend Sheffield Wednesday travel to West London to face Brentford at Griffin Park.

Their opponents have six points from their opening four matches after home victories against Nottingham Forest and Ipswich.

Wednesday will be looking to end Brentford's 100% record at home this season, and the Bees could be there for the taking after suffering a disappointing loss at the hands of Rotherham last weekend.

This game is shaping up as an interesting contest on paper, but here is a team that Carlos Carvalhal should select this weekend...

GK: Keiren Westwood

Keiren Westwood should retain his spot as Sheffield Wednesday's number one.

The 31-year-old Republic of Ireland international was one of the most consistent performers for the Owls last season.

RB: Jack Hunt

25-year-old right back Jack Hunt retains his starting spot in this team.

The former Crystal Palace man was a mainstay in Sheffield Wednesday's campaign last season and provides solidity at right-back for Carvalhal's side.

CB: Tom Lees

Sheffield Wednesday will be relieved to have Tom Lees back after he missed a short spell through injury.

He made his return against former club Leeds but the 25-year-old will be fitter and fresher for the clash with Brentford.

CB: Vincent Sasso

Sasso is preferred to Sam Hutchinson in this side as the Frenchman is a more natural centre back.

The 25-year-old recently signed a permanent contract after his loan spell last year.

Sasso has a point to prove to get more game time for Wednesday so Saturday's match might be the ideal opportunity for him.

LB: Daniel Pudil

pudil

Daniel Pudil remains Sheffield Wednesday's best option at left-back.

The 30-year-old signed permanent terms with the Owls in the summer following a successful loan spell last year.

He is also able to play in midfield and is a threat going forward.

RM: Ross Wallace

31-year-old winger Ross Wallace is a consistent performer for Wednesday, and should continue in his role on the flank ahead of Will Buckley.

The once-capped Scottish international will look to get plenty of service into the front two.

CM: David Jones

Sheffield Wednesday recently captured Burnley midfielder David Jones and he made his debut as a substitute against Leeds.

Carvalhal could give the 31-year-old his first start this weekend, and he has plenty of experience in getting teams promoted.

CM: Barry Bannan

bannannnn

Barry Bannan was a revelation at Sheffield Wednesday last season after joining from Aston Villa.

The left-footed playmaker reignited his career with the Owls, and stands out as a key performer for the Championship outfit.

Wednesday fans will be hoping for some magic from Bannan this weekend to unlock Brentford's defence.

LM: Almen Abdi

Almen Abdis

Attacking midfielder Almen Abdi should continue on the left for Wednesday.

The 29-year-old creative playmaker joined from Watford and could be one of the Owls' most dangerous weapons going forward if he performs.

After being axed at half time in both of Wednesday's last two games, Abdi will be hoping to put in a performance worthy of staying on the pitch this weekend.

ST: Steven Fletcher

After joining from Sunderland in the summer, Fletcher will be keen to notch his first goal for Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

The scrum-cap-wearing aerial powerhouse will provide a target in the box for Abdi and Wallace's crosses and he will undoubtedly be a handful for the Brentford defence.

The 29-year-old Scotland international is complimented by a strike partner to benefit from his knockdowns.

ST: Gary Hooper

Gary Hooper is preferred to Fernando Forestieri here but it was a close call.

With Forestieri's "strike", maybe Carvalhal needs to drop him for a game or two and make him earn his place back.

Hooper scored plenty of goals for the Owls last season and they'll be hoping he can find the net on a regular basis again this season - perhaps starting this weekend?
