Sheffield United will entertain Rochdale at Bramall Lane this weekend, knowing that the home crowd will be fully expecting Chris Wilder's men to register their first three points of the season.

Rochdale ran out 2-0 winners the last time the two clubs met, with Grant Holt sealing a victory at Spotland against what was then Nigel Adkins' side.

New Blades manager Chris Wilder will be hoping to put the last 7 days behind him, where two consecutive losses have seen the Blades get off to a poor start to the season results wise.

However, there have been encouraging signs in terms of performance levels, and this weekend might well see the Blades register that all important first win.

Wilder has gone with 4-4-2 so far, and is likely to go with the same formation again.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor picks his XI which he feels will be enough to defeat Rochdale this weekend....

GK - George Long

George Long

Not everyone's cup of tea, but the Blades don't have many more options in that department, so Long will play.

The young goalkeeper has ability, but needs to command his box more and a clean sheet this weekend could do him the world of good.

RB - John Brayford

The former Derby and Cardiff man is still one of the Blades best performers, and should keep his right back spot for the considerable future.

Brayford needs to try and get back to the form he showed during his initial loan spell with the Blades, and Saturday might be the ideal place for him to start.

CB - Jack O'Connell

Jack O'Connell

The young defender has been impressive enough so far, and should well keep his place in the line-up.

O'Connell should be a regular this season, the big question is who is going to partner him throughout the season.

CB - Jake Wright

While consistency is key for forming a good central defensive partnership, James Wilson has hardly convinced in his opening two games.

Jake Wright might well give the Blades more presence and leadership on the pitch, and with a physical Rochdale team arriving, he would get the nod for me.

LB - Chris Hussey

hussey

The signing from Bury seems to have a wand of a left foot, and should be laying some chances on a plate for the strikers.

Hussey may need competition for the left back spot as the season progresses, but for now, he will be keeping his spot.

RM - Mark Duffy

duffy123

Another summer signing who is going to play, especially with the sale of Che Adams now done.

Duffy has more to show than he has so far, but there is little doubt he is going to be a quality player for the Blades this term.

CM - John Fleck

flecky

The signing from Coventry has looked assured in the first two games so far, and will definitely be keeping his place in the middle of the park this season.

Fleck looks a solid addition, and United will need him at his best to secure three points this weekend.

CM - Stefan Scougall

The Scottish midfielder has been out of the side for a while, but at home can offer some impetus from midfield which can be lacking when Chris Basham plays.

Chris Wilder seems to like him, and this weekend might be good for giving the little midfielder a chance to shine.

LM -Matt Done

doneeeeeeeeee

As much as I don't want to see Done down the left, we have little else in the terms of wide options.

United are desperate for some natural width to the team, but for now, Done will have to do down the left.

Fwd - Leon Clarke

Leon Clarkes

The big striker opened his account in the midweek defeat to Crewe, and will be hoping to build on that goal.

He missed a few more chances and missed a sitter at Bolton on the opening day, but there is goals in him, and he will be relishing getting back to it this weekend.

Fwd - Billy Sharp

The captain has yet to hit the target but will be confident of hitting the back of the net soon.

Rochdale at home represents an ideal chance for the Blades skipper to open his account for the season, and he will be hoping he has a fair few chances at Bramall Lane this weekend.
