There was clear improvement for all Millers' fans to see last week against Reading as new boss Kenny Jackett took charge of his first game, however the result was still the same, a defeat.

Jackett has now had a full weeks worth of training with the squad and will be hopeful of securing his first win as manager of Rotherham United this weekend as they take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Rotherham currently sit rock bottom of the Championship table after picking up just one win from the opening fourteen league games but new man Jackett has been adamant that the talent is there in the squad and that staying up is a real possibility.

They face an Ipswich side that haven't had the best start to the campaign, winning just four of their opening 14 league games.

This article is going to take a look at a suggested starting eleven which would see The Millers pick up what would just be their second win of the season...

GK-  Lee Camp

Lee CampLee Campdd

Lee Camp is the undisputed number one goalkeeper at the club and barring any injuries, will be between the sticks at Portman Road on Saturday hoping to turn in a good performance and come away from the game with a clean sheet, something which has been a rarity this season.

Camp was outstanding for the club last season as they scraped survival however, he certainly hasn't hit those same heights so far this season and will be hopeful of turning in a big display this weekend.

LB- Joe Mattock

Former Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City man Joe Mattock was in and out of the team under previous manager Alan Stubbs but will now have his sights set on playing frequently under new boss Kenny Jackett.

Mattock is a seasoned Championship pro after spending the majority of his career at this level. In his earlier days he was capped by England at under 17, 19 and 21 level.

CB- Dael Fry

Dael Fry

Middlesbrough loanee Dael Fry hasn't looked out of place in the Championship at all and looks to be getting better with every passing game.

The youngster is rated very highly by parent club Middlesbrough and also at international level by England for whom he has been capped at under 17, 18, 19 and 20 level.

You can expect to see 19-year-old in the starting line-up this weekend against Ipswich Town.

CB- Richard Wood

woodwood

Richard Wood was brought straight back into the starting line-up by Kenny Jackett for his first game in charge as he looks to bring more experienced heads into the starting eleven, and it is likely he will keep his place in the team after he turned in a man of the match performance against Reading.

The 31-year-old is very experienced and has represented the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry City, Chesterfield and Fleetwood Town throughout his long career in the game.

RB- Darnell Fisher

darnell-fisherdarnell-fisherd

Summer signing Darnell Fisher has been one of the bright sparks for The Millers this term as he looks to have been an excellent find by previous manager Alan Stubbs. He has taken to life in the Championship extremely well and has really started to flourish in recent weeks.

However, with experienced full-back Stephen Kelly returning to full fitness this week, he can expect tough competition for the starting birth at right-back in the coming weeks.

LM- Izzy Brown

Brown

Under previous boss Alan Stubbs, Izzy Brown was being deployed in a role just behind the striker but after the arrival of Nigerian Peter Odemwingie this week, it is likely The Millers will be deploying a 4-4-2 formation, meaning Brown would be shifted to a wide left role in my preferred Rotherham United starting XI.

Brown has undoubted quality and can pose a real threat to any Championship defence and is therfore far too valuable to The Millers to be sitting on the bench.

CM- Lee Frecklington

Lee Frecklington

"Mr Rotherham United" Lee Frecklington is a real asset to this Rotherham squad, he works tirelessly for the team, covers every blade of grass on the pitch and also has a track record of chipping in with some very important goals.

When fit, Frecklington would be most Millers fans first name on the team sheet and you can expect him to keep his place in the middle of the park for this upcoming game against Ipswich Town.

CM- Will Vaulks

Will Vaulks would partner Frecks in the centre of midfield in my preferred Rotherham United XI, taking the place of Greg Halford who's underwhelming performance of late have led to many fans calling for the former Sheffield United and Sunderland man to be dropped.

Vaulks has one goal to his name so far this season which was a fantastic volley which came in the season opening 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

RM- Jon Taylor

Jon TaylorJon TaylorJon Taylor

Club record signing Jon Taylor has started to come into his own in recent weeks and has caused opposition defences numerous problems with his direct approach and pace.

He has 3 goals to his name so far this campaign and will be hoping to add to that tally this weekend when facing off against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

ST- Danny Ward

danny-wardd

Despite the club struggling in the league this season, Millers frontman Danny Ward is having a very good season on a personal level so far.

He currently sits joint 3rd in the list of Championship top scorers with 6 goals to his name.

He is one of the first names on the team sheet and will be keen to add to his goal tally this weekend when coming up against Ipswich Town.

ST- Peter Odemwingie

odemwingieodemwingief

Experienced Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie put pen to paper on a short term deal with the club until January and it has been confirmed by Kenny Jackett that he will go straight into the squad for the weekends trip to Ipswich Town.

Odemwingie has played the majority of his career at the highest level which has seen him represent the likes of Lokomotiv Moscow, Lille, West Brom and also Stoke City.

He will be hopeful of getting his Rotherham United career off to a good start and prove to everyone he still has what it takes at the age of 35.
