Newcastle United are currently flying high under the guidance of Champions League winning manager Rafa Benitez.

The Toon find themselves sitting in in 3rd place in the Sky Bet Championship table after picking up an impressive 7 wins from the opening 11 league games.

Their latest being a 1-0 win over bottom of the table Rotherham United thanks to Christian Atsu's terrific solo effort.

Although, this start was nothing less than everyone associated with the club were expecting after their relegation from the top flight.

Being the huge club that Newcastle are, they are overwhelming title favourites and will be looking to jump up to top spot this weekend by beating Brentford and hoping other results go their way.

This is the Newcastle United XI that will smash Brentford on Saturday.......

GK - Karl Darlow

karl-darlowddddds

Karl Darlow has been in possession of the number one jersey at Newcastle, over the past few weeks after some underwhelming performances by Matz Sels.

Darlow did well in between the sticks last time out against Rotherham United and kept a clean sheet as the Magpies ran out 1-0 winners.

The Welsh international looks set to continue in goal for this one against Brentford.

LB - Paul Dummett

Paul DummetPaul Dummet

25-year-old full back Paul Dummett would continue at left back in my Newcastle United XI after being one of Newcastle's most consistent performers throughout the start of this season.

Local lad Dummett brings passion, desire and heart to the Newcastle defence and adds a bit of Geordie steel to the back line.

Since rising through the ranks at St James' Park he has gone onto make close to 100 appearances for the senior team.

CB - Ciaran Clark

Former Villa man Ciaran Clark has been one of the outstanding performers in recent weeks and looks set to continue at centre back for the upcoming fixture against Brentford.

Clark has been a commanding physical presence in the Newcastle back line, and was recently the man of the match during a 1-1 draw with old club Villa.

Before signing for Newcastle, Clark rose through the ranks at Aston Villa and went onto make close to 150 appearances.

CB - Jamaal Lascelles

Lascelles

Jamaal Lascelles has excelled at the heart of Newcastle's defence this season and looks to have been a good pick for captain by manager Rafael Benitez.

The young centre back is growing into his role at one of the biggest clubs in England, and clear progression can be seen from the former England under 21 international.

The 22-year-old has already made over 30 appearances for the first team.

RB - Vurnon Anita

Vurnon AnitaVurnon Anita

Versatile operator Vurnon Anita would start in a right back role in my preferred Newcastle XI for the upcoming game against Brentford.

The Netherlands international has been a very important player since signing for the club back in the summer of 2012 from Dutch club Ajax.

Since penning a five year deal with the club he has gone onto make over 100 appearances, scoring just 3 goals in the process.

LM - Christian Atsu

atsuuuu

Christian Atsu received his first start last time out against Rotherham United and repaid the manager's faith in him by turning out a man of the match performance, which was topped off with a terrific solo effort that saw the Magpies run out of the New York Stadium with all three points.

After his performance last time out against the Millers, Atsu deserves to be including from the start again.

CM - Jonjo Shelvey

jonjo-shelvey-jonjo-shelveyd

England international Jonjo Shelvey is a crucial player to this Newcastle team, he is the midfield playmaker who makes the team tick and certainly in this league, his quality shines through.

Shelvey controlled the midfield with ease against Rotherham United last time out and will no doubt be included from the start this weekend against Brentford, barring any injuries.

CM - Jack Colback

colbackd

Ball winning midfielder Jack Colback would get the starting role alongside Jonjo Shelvey, in midfield to give balance to the side, while Shelvey can often be found lurking in and around the penalty area, Colback is a more disciplined, defensive minded player who will sit and protect the back four.

The former Sunderland man has taken well to life with the Magpies and has made close to 100 appearances for the club since his arrival.

RM - Matt Ritchie

Matt RitchieMatt Ritchied

Marquee signing Matt Ritchie was rested against Rotherham United but would be recalled to the side for the upcoming game against Brentford, in my preferred Newcastle United XI.

Ritchie has undoubted quality and is one of the most creative players in the whole Newcastle squad, the Scotland international has excellent technical ability and will be a key player for the Magpies this season, no doubt about that.

ST - Aleksander Mitrovic

aleksandar-mitrovicaleksandar-mitrovic

Target man Alexsander Mitrovic would get a starting role upfront in my Newcastle United XI, as he would add physicality and power to the frontline along with much needed ability to be able to hold the ball up and bring others into play.

The Serbian international does of course carry a huge goal threat as well and has netted twice for his country over the international break, both goals coming in a 3-2 win against Austria.

ST - Dwight Gayle

gayleeeee999333

Dwight Gayle has already netted 7 times this season for the Magpies and is looking red hot back in the Championship, after enjoying a stint in the top flight with Crystal Palace.

Gayle is a good old fashioned goal poacher, he does his best work in and around the penalty area and will feed on any loose scraps throughout the forthcoming game against Brentford, and nobody would be surprised if he gets his name on the scoresheet once again.
