It just hasn't clicked thus far for Aston Villa.

With seven games played, Villa fans did not expect to see the club sitting 17th in the table with just one win.

Aston Villa have conceded a staggering five goals in the last ten minutes of games already this season.

This has cost them seven points and they would be 4th without those goals.

Twice in a week they have seen a late goal deny them all three points; firstly against Nottingham Forest and then against Brentford - both at Villa Park.

This is quite frankly unacceptable and an issue which Roberto di Matteo needs to address immediately.

This weekend, the Villains travel to Ipswich which will not be an easy clash.

Mick McCarthy's side are very hit and miss, though, and Aston Villa have enough to beat them if they can perform to expected standards and avoid conceding late goals.

Here is the team that di Matteo should put out this weekend so that Aston Villa can get their second win of the season...

GK: Pierluigi Gollini

There were concerns over whether Gollini would be fit for the midweek clash with Brentford, after he took a knock against Nottingham Forest but the 21-year-old played and should be set to play again this weekend. The Italy under-21 international is a much better option than Mark Bunn and is improving game by game.

RB: Leandro Bacuna

Ritchie De Laet has been playing well but he picked up an injury on Wednesday night against Brentford and it looks fairly serious.

He could be set to miss this weekend's clash with Ipswich so Leandro Bacuna will come in.

The 25-year-old Curacao international poses an attacking threat at right back but is prone to make the occasional defensive error.

CB: Micah Richards

This is a controversial call but Tommy Elphick has been off-form and needs to be sent a message.

He might show great passion but that's no use if he's not defending properly.

28-year-old former England international Micah Richards has lost his way but clearly has talent.

Aston Villa fans will be hoping that the former Manchester City man can show them some evidence of that at some point.

CB: James Chester

James Chester arrived from West Brom this summer and they'll need his defensive qualities to help solidify the defence.

Villa fans will be hoping that Chester can replicate the form he showed for Wales at Euro 2016 so that they stop conceding late goals.

LB: Jordan Amavi

Aston Villa need to get Aly Cissokho out of the side and a partly-fit Jordan Amavi is surely a better option.

The Frenchman was one of Villa's star performers last year but his season was cut short due to a serious long-term injury.

The 22-year-old left back is getting fitter each game and after playing 45 minutes in midweek, he might be ready to finally start a match.

RM: Albert Adomah

Roberto di Matteo was hoping that Adomah would be ready for the midweek match but he should be back for this weekend after missing out against Brentford.

The 28-year-old will give Villa some much-needed width and quality on the flanks.

The Ghana international is an out and out winger who causes problems for full backs and can produce some good crosses.

CM: Mile Jedinak

Mile Jedinak is an experienced, no-nonsense central midfielder who will relish the physical nature of the Championship.

The Australia international is naturally defensive-minded and provides good cover for the defence.

After fitness doubts, the 32-year-old former Crystal Palace captain played against Brentford and should start again this weekend.

CM: Aaron Tshibola

Despite his young age, Aston Villa fans are praying that Aaron Tshibola makes his return from injury this weekend against Ipswich.

The 21-year-old provides mobility in the middle of the park which Jedinak, Westwood and Gardner all lack. T

he former England under-18 international has had plenty of injury concerns before which will worry Villa fans but if he's fit then he should be handed a start.

LM: Jordan Ayew

Jack Grealish missed the Brentford match with a hamstring injury so is unlikely to be fit in time for the weekend.

This means that Jordan Ayew will probably continue as a winger.

Even though the 25-year-old has had a slow start to life in the second tier, Villa fans know what he's capable of and will be hoping that the Ghana international can create some magic from a wide region.

ST: Jonathan Kodjia

Jonathan Kodjia opened his account for Aston Villa with a brilliant curled effort and will be hungry to add more to that tally.

The prolific Ivory Coast international scored 20 goals for Bristol City in his debut season in England last year, and he should thrive with good service.

The 26-year-old is a physical striker who can play as a target man or as a second striker so he gives di Matteo some versatility up top.

ST: Ross McCormack

After coming off injured against Brentford, Villa fans will be hoping that Ross McCormack will be ready for the weekend.

The 30-year-old was an expensive acquisition this summer but has a proven goalscoring track record in the Championship.

Di Matteo needs to be fielding the Scotland international as a striker rather than a winger so if he's fit, he should start up front.
