Millwall came within touching distance of bouncing back to the second tier of English football last year, but suffered a heartbreaking 3-1 defeat at the hands of Barnsley in the play-off final.

The Lions have had a steady, but by no means particularly impressive, start to this season and currently find themselves sitting firmly in mid-table after picking up 7 wins from the opening 17 league games.

Last time out the club suffered defeat at the hands of Bolton Wanderers and will be keen to bounce back tonight by taking all three points from the clash with AFC Wimbledon.

Manager Neil Harris must play this XI to come away with all three points tonight...

GK - Jordan Archer

Shot stopper Jordan Archer is no doubt one of Neil Harris' first names on the teamsheet and barring any injury, you can expect to see him in between the sticks for this one.

Last season, he produced many top class goalkeeping displays to help Millwall to the play-off final, and was awarded the club's player of the year award for the season.

LB - Shane Ferguson

Former Newcastle and Birmingham man Shane Ferguson would get a starting role at left back in my preferred Millwall XI.

The Northern Irishman is a very useful squad member as he is comfortable in a variety of positions, be it either flank or even as a left sided full back.

He is excellent with the ball at his feet, is very quick and direct and can be a constant thorn in any opposition side.

CB - Tony Craig

Captain Tony Craig is a crucial player in this Millwall team and his leadership, composure and experience would be sorely missed when he's not in the side.

The 31-year-old is in his third spell with the club and is a huge fans favourite amongst the Millwall faithful.

CB - Byron Webster

29-year-old centre back Byron Webster would retain his place as partner to Tony Craig in defence for this upcoming game against AFC Wimbledon in my preferred Millwall XI.

Prior to signing for Millwall, Webster had represented the likes of Yeovil Town, Northampton Town and Doncaster Rovers throughout his career.

RB - Mahlon Romeo

mahlon-romeo9

21-year-old full back Mahlon Romeo is someone who's stock is certainly on the rise, Romeo has been impressing ever since he broke into the first team at Millwall.

At just 21, Romeo is already a full senior international having earned 6 caps for the Antigua and Barbuda national team.

LM - Fred Onyedinma

Fredy Onyedinma would be given a starting role on the left hand side of midfield in my preferred Millwall XI.

The 19- year-old is very highly rated by all the coaching staff at the club, and is certainly someone who has the potential to play at a higher level than League One.

The midfield man is technically excellent and has the physical attributes to match, he will certainly go along way in this game.

CM - Shaun Williams

shaun-williams0000000

30-year-old Shaun Williams would retain his place in midfield in my preferred Millwall XI for this upcoming clash with AFC Wimbledon.

The experienced midfielder has been at the club since January 2014, and has already mad close to 100 appearances for the club.

Williams is a strong and physical player and is someone who can never be questioned when it comes to work rate, commitment and desire.

CM - Calum Butcher

Former Tottenham Hotspur trainee Calum Butcher would be granted a starting role in the centre of midfield for this upcoming game against AFC Wimbledon.

Butcher played a key role in Burton Albion's shock promotion last year, and will be hoping to be just as pivotal for the Lions this year as they chase a play-off spot.

RM - David Worrall

david-worrall00

David Worrall came on as an early substitute for the injured Lee Gregory in the 2-0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers, and should be given a starting birth for this upcoming game with AFC Wimbledon in my opinion.

The 26- year-old has previously represented the likes of Rotherham United, Southend, Bury and Accrington Stanley throughout his career.

ST - Harry Smith

Young 21-year-old frontman Harry Smith has had an excellent start to his Millwall career and is looking like a real talent.

Smith will be keen to continue his good form and hopefully get on the scoresheet tonight as he faces off against the solid AFC Wimbledon defence.

Smith is a big strong physical striker who can certainly bully defenders despite being just the tender age of 21.

ST - Aiden O'Brien

Aiden O'Brien is attracting interest from Premier League outfit Crystal Palace

Millwall talisman Lee Gregory went off early with an injury during the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bolton Wanderers, meaning it is likely that he will miss tonight's clash with AFC Wimbledon and in my preferred Millwall XI, frontman Aiden O'Brien would be the perfect replacement.

O'Brien has been at the club for all of his professional career so far and has already made close to 100 appearances for the club at just the age of 23.
