This weekend the Championship resumes having taken a two-week break to accommodate the UEFA Nations League fixtures.

The interval came after a pulsating month of second-tier action and all that comes to a head this weekend when the league resumes.

The fortnight away from competitive domestic action has given all the clubs in the division the chance to assess their start to the champaign and pinpoint areas that need improvement heading into the next batch of fixtures.

Neil Harris has had two weeks to work with his troops in order to keep them in form heading into this weekend’s visit to the Madejski Stadium to take on Reading.

Having had the break, the Lions’ boss will have a selection dilemma on his hands as to how he sets his side out when the Championship campaign resumes on Saturday afternoon.

With that said here is the Millwall XI we expect Harris to field from the start this weekend when they face Reading.

The goalkeeper has played in the past seven consecutive matches and has done well considering his side’s poor form.

Having failed to keep a clean sheet in the Championship this year, the 28-year-old is expected to start to try and gain his maiden shutout this weekend.

Mahlon Romeo and Conor McLaughlin have been fighting it out for the right-back spot all season and the 23-year-old has won the battle having made nine appearances this term.

It is fully expected Romeo will make his tenth appearance against Reading this weekend, a fixture he scored in last year.

The defender has missed the last seven matches after picking up a knee injury in the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday back in August.

Having come through an U23s fixture last week, Shaun Hutchinson could well be in contention to start this weekend.

Millwall’s vice-captain is expected to come back into the side ahead of a trip to Berkshire on Saturday.

Heading back to his former side, Jake Cooper has three assists this term, which is joint second in the division.

He is also the club’s second top scorer with two goals and has been the standout performers in what has been a poor season so far for the Lions.

It is expected the 23-year-old ever-present will make it appearance number 13 against his former side.

Quietly consistent, the Australia international has remained solid for Neil Harris’ side this year despite a slight dip in form.

It is fully expected that the 30-year-old will retain the left-back stop and make his 12th appearance of the season.

Having been out of form for most of the season, returning from suspension having missed the Nottingham Forest fixture, Jed Wallace looked back to his best in the win over Aston Villa.

It is expected the flying winger will make his 12th appearance of the season and look to add to his one goal and open is assist account for the campaign.

The Sheffield United loanee has settled in at The Den like has been there all his life and has managed three assists in three matches.

When fit, he commands a place in Millwall’s starting XI, and it is expected he starts this weekend.

Two goals and two assists in 11 matches for Shaun Williams is a reasonable return for a player who oozes class on the ball in the middle of the pitch for Millwall.

Having captained the side in the absence of Steve Morison and Shaun Hutchinson, Williams is expected to retain his place in the starting XI this weekend.

Having been out in the cold for most of the season, Shane Ferguson has returned with a bang in the last two fixtures.

He had made three substitute appearances in previous fixtures, but his two starts have seen the winger score and assist, picking up four points along the way.

It is a successful return to the first-team for the Northern Ireland international who is expected to retain his place in the starting line up.

Millwall’s top scorer this term has led from the front impeccably this season, running and chasing down any and every ball possible.

He sets the tone for the Lions' approach and has been sensational in the last two matches.

Lee Gregory is fully expected to retain his place in the Lions’ starting XI.

Having played second-fiddle to captain Steve Morison this season the 27-year-old has risen to prominence to supreme effect in the last two fixtures.

Tom Elliott starred in the draw with Nottingham Forest winning 13 of his 16 aerial duels before scoring the winner against Aston Villa last time out.

It is expected that he continues in attack away at Reading this weekend.
