It's been a so-so sort of start for Nottingham Forest and new manager Philippe Montanier, who have failed to pick up three points since their opening day victory over Nigel Clough's Burton Albion.

They've fallen to successive defeats to Brighton and Brentford and after such an exciting start, Forest fans will hope to see a result on Saturday against Wigan Athletic.

It'll be home advantage for Forest on Saturday and they play a Latics side that got a last-gasp equaliser against Birmingham City on Tuesday evening to ensure the game finished 1-1.

So with both sides wanting to get back to winning ways, how can we expect Montanier play it in terms of team selection? Will it be a safe selection or he will go out trying to get all three points?

Here's our Nottingham Forest XI that can beat Wigan this weekend, lining up in a 4-3-3 formation......

GK: Stephen Henderson

Stephen Henderson

With Dorus De Vries making the move to Celtic, Stephen Henderson will keep his place in goal quite simply because the Reds don't have much other choice.

He's a pretty handy keeper at this level and does a good enough job when relied upon.

RB: Eric Lichaj

The former Aston Villa man plays a big part in this Forest side and he came close to equalising for his side against Brentford on Tuesday evening.

He will put that behind him going into this weekend's fixture as he hopes to get back to winning ways.

Lichaj is a reliable sort of full-back without giving the pace that your more modern-day defenders give.

CB: Matt Mills

Matt MillsMatt Millsh

Former Bolton Wanderers man Matt Mills is a reliable face in the Forest back four, and the only bad thing he'll take away from the Brentford game is a yellow card.

Has marshalled the team on numerous occasions, and will not what to expect as his side attempt to return to winning ways this weekend.

CB: Michael Mancienne

With Damien Perquis getting a red card at Griffin Park on Tuesday, Montanier will have to change his defence a little as he will be suspended for the game against Wigan.

So given a chance could be former Hamburg man Michael Mancienne, who is a decent option to have waiting in the wings.

He'll be looking to break back into the starting XI though and expect him to do everything he can, to prove to the boss he can do well for Forest this season.

LB: Danny Fox

Danny FoxDanny Fox

Has bags of experience at Football League level and he will be hoping to settle the ship in defence, as the players in front of him go in-search of goals.

Much like Lichaj, he's not renowned for his attacking play but he has a good set-piece ability and is a sturdy option on the left hand side.

CM: Pajtim Kasami

Pajtim KasamiPajtim Kasami

The former Fulham man should start this one in midfield.

He's a pacy player who has played wide but he gives a little bit of variety in the middle of the park.

Has good movement and will look to go forward on most occasions to support the forward players.

CM: Henri Lansbury

The former West Ham loanee is a real favourite at the Forest Ground and if there is anyone who can turn a game around, it's him.

Has a good goalscoring record and really controls things from the middle of the park.

Will be looking to penetrate the Wigan defence with his passing ability as well.

CM: David Vaughan

David VaughanDavid Vaughandd

Arguably the most defensive out of this trio, former Blackpool man David Vaughan has an assured style of play and is happy for his team-mates to get forward whilst he sits in-front of the defence.

Left-footed, he has Premier League experience with the Seasiders and Sunderland - and he'll hope his presence in this team can get the win.

RW: Oliver Burke

Oliver BurkeOliver Burkedf

Is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League clubs and this comes as little surprise to some Forest fans, with the Scotland international impressing so far this campaign.

He's a pacy, skillful winger who will provide plenty of assists this term.

Will be a big part of the Forest plan going forward and Montanier will want to keep hold this summer.

ST: Britt Assombalonga

assombalongaassombalongam

Asombalonga is easily Forest's biggest forward player and his form will dictate how well they do this season.

Was unlucky not to score against Brentford but bagged a double on the opening day of the season.

Will want to get back amongst the goals on Saturday and surely a strike isn't that far away.

LW: Hildeberto Pereira

Hildeberto PereiraHildeberto Pereiracvb

The Benfica man, who started the game against Brentford, will be wanting to kick into gear as the season continues.

Pereira a tricky customer on the flank and we can see him having a big impact for Forest if he can stay in the team, and get plenty of the ball.

Patience might be needed- it's his first spell in England and at just 20-years-old, still has plenty to learn.
