This Saturday, Derby County face Norwich City at the iPro Stadium with the two sides in contrasting form.

The Rams have won three on the bounce and have tasted defeat just once since Steve McClaren's return, whereas Alex Neil's side have not won in 5 league matches.

Norwich come into this game following four straight defeats.

Derby come into the game having comfortably beaten Rotherham at home last weekend, with Tom Ince bagging a brace in a 3-0 win, but Norwich lost in their last outing.

They fell to a 2-1 defeat at QPR having spent most of the tie with 10 men.

Despite the poor form, the Canaries still sit 6th in the table, 4 points ahead of their hosts Derby, who have risen to 12th in the Championship following their improved results.

The last time these two sides met, they played out a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road in March 2015.

Jamie Hanson made his Rams' debut that day and his corner led directly to a John Ruddy own goal.

Bradley Johnson started the match in a Norwich shirt that day, and for the first time since leaving Norfolk, he could come up against his former teammates on Saturday.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Rob Booth identifies the Derby line-up that could beat Norwich...

GK - Scott Carson

scott-carsond

Scott Carson has been a permanent fixture in the Derby side this season, under both Nigel Pearson and Steve McClaren.

The shot stopper looks to have played through his poor form and has shown massive improvement since McClaren's return, putting in better performances and being more alert and agile in games.

Carson has kept 4 clean sheets in his last 6 matches, compared to the 3 he managed in the league during Pearson's spell in charge.

The former England international has played every minute of Derby's season so far, and he's likely to continue between the posts on Saturday.

RB - Chris Baird

baird3

Chris Baird's selection in the team didn't please all Derby fans due to his reluctance to provide an attacking threat to Championship defences.

But the Northern Irish international did a job at right back last week, making accurate passes and winning the ball back on numerous occasions.

Due to his good performance and experienced head, there's no reason he can't do a job in the Derby defence until at least January when Steve McClaren can bring reinforcements in.

CB - Richard Keogh

Richard Keogh

Richard Keogh is another player who has played every single minute of Derby's 2016/17 Championship season.

The Derby skipper has been a standout performer all season, and even looked a solid defender during the Rams' poor run of form at the start of the season.

Keogh has continued to work hard for the team and is arguably one of the best centre backs in the division.

Barring injury, Steve McClaren will name Richard Keogh in his line-up to face Norwich.

CB - Alex Pearce

alex-pearcedds

Introduced into the first XI earlier this season following Jason Shackell's poor form, Alex Pearce has been a great player for the Rams this season.

Pearce and his Republic Of Ireland teammate Richard Keogh have been a solid centre back pairing for Derby this season, which has contributed to them keeping 4 clean sheets in their last 6 league fixtures.

Because of their good form, chemistry and defensive abilities, Pearce and Keogh should remain the heart of the Derby defence.

LB - Max Lowe

Max Lowe is continuing to impress at Derby and is also continuing to show why he could be the Rams' next top academy product.

The left back has now played 5 Championship games for Derby, and is looking better every week as he accumulates even more minutes on the pitch.

With his ability to power down the wing and scare defences, as well as his great defensive capabilities, he's made the step up from youth football to first team football look easy.

CDM - Bradley Johnson

johnsonnn77

Bradley Johnson will come up against his former side Norwich this Saturday for the first time since leaving on deadline day in 2015.

It's been a rollercoaster of form since Johnson's arrival in Derby, after starting his career with the Rams quite well, his performances dropped and by the end of last season he was all over the place.

However the return of Steve McClaren has seen an uplift in Bradley Johnson's form, and the midfielder that was so influential in Norwich 2014/15 promotion campaign is starting to replicate that at the iPro Stadium.

The 29-year-old has played every match under McClaren's reign, and is likely to continue at the weekend.

CM - Jacob Butterfield

butterfield44

Jacob Butterfield was one of the best players on the pitch in last week's 3-0 victory over Rotherham United, putting in a great shift in midfield and getting the assist for Darren Bent's goal.

The 26-year-old has appeared in all 6 of Steve McClaren's matches in charge, and it looks as if he's found his preferred midfield 3.

Butterfield, who joined Derby last season for £4m, had a good debut season with the Rams, and despite some inconsistency he's following that up this year.

CM - Will Hughes

Hughes

Will Hughes' record and ability speaks for itself.

The youngster is a top Championship player and is still just 21 years of age.

The Derby County academy graduate has always been highly rated at the iPro Stadium, whatever form he is in, but since the beginning of McClaren's second spell in charge, Hughes has returned to his best in a Derby shirt.

It's likely McClaren will go with the same midfield as last week since they did so well and Craig Bryson is still unavailable.

RW - Tom Ince

ince

Tom Ince has gone from zero to hero in the last few weeks, and has Steve McClaren to thank for his U-turn in form.

A fairly big portion of Derby fans wanted Ince out of the club earlier on this season following his lazy, unmotivated attitude towards the club and the game.

But McClaren has changed all of that; Ince looks livelier, more motivated and just a better footballer now Steve Mac is back in the Derby dugout and he's starting to win back the Rams' fan base.

Ince has scored 4 goals in his last 2 games for Derby, and could've had a hat-trick against Rotherham if he did not miss two penalties.

There's no doubt the 24-year-old will remain in the starting line-up for Saturday's clash with Norwich since he's Derby most in-form player.

LW - Johnny Russell

johnny-russellcd

Johnny Russell has played in every game since Steve McClaren's return, and is clearly preferred over summer signing Ikechi Anya.

Russell has scored 13 goals for Derby under the management of Steve McClaren, and scored in the first game of his spell in charge in both 2013 and 2016.

The Scotsman is obviously favoured by the former England manager and has definitely improved this season since his return.

Due to his good performances, he'll probably continue on the left hand side for Derby against Alex Neil's side.

ST - Darren Bent

darren-bentdarren-bent

Like a fair few players in the Derby squad, Darren Bent has found some form since the Rams' managerial change.

McClaren reintroduced Bent to the line-up when the Rams hosted Sheffield Wednesday 4 weeks ago, and Derby have won every game since, with Bent scoring twice.

The former Premier League striker has held up the ball well, made better runs in behind defences and has stayed onside a lot more since being put back into the team.

The former England international is clearly another player who is enjoying the benefits of the 'McClaren effect'.
