It’s been an incredible start to the season for Reading, with Jaap Stam leading his side to an unprecedented fourth position in the Championship table after the first 16 games of the season.
Many thought the appointment of the former Manchester United centre-back could have gone one of two ways, as the 44-year- old has very little managerial experience, but it’s worked out well so far and Reading are reaping the rewards.
Most of his signings have worked out well too, and in particular John Swift, whom he signed from Chelsea after the 21-year old had an impressive loan spell at Brentford last season.
However, after sustaining an injury on international break, the club are likely to have to do without him for two weeks, and definitely for this weekend.
That is likely to be the major concern for Stam, especially considering his side’s current form.
Reading have won three in a row and haven’t conceded in that time, but how they will fare without Swift is yet to be determined – he had only missed one game so far.
Burton, on the other hand, are struggling with their first taste of second tier football.
They are sat in 18th place and haven’t won since the 2-0 win over Birmingham almost a month ago.
Nigel Clough will be looking to gain a massive scalp and an even bigger set of three points when the sides meet this Saturday.
Here, in the opinion of FLW’s Ryan Evans, is a Reading XI that will beat Burton Albion on Saturday…
