Huddersfield have had a remarkable start to this season’s Sky Bet Championship campaign, and currently find themselves flying high in third place, after picking up nine wins from the opening fifteen league games.

Manager David Wagner has got the team playing excellent possession based attacking football, and has seen his side reap the rewards of that so far this season, with some excellent displays.

Last time out, Huddersfield suffered a shock 5-0 defeat at the hands of Fulham and will be keen to get straight back to winning ways this weekend when they face off against Birmingham City.

This article is going to take a look at the starting eleven that David Wagner needs to field if they are to beat Birmingham this Saturday.....

GK - Danny Ward

Liverpool loanee Danny Ward is someone who is rated very highly back at Anfield but has chosen to seek first team football to aid his development as a player, hence his loan move to Huddersfield.

He is the undisputed number one goalkeeper at the club and you can expect to see him in between the sticks on Saturday, barring any injuries of course.

LB - Martin Cranie

CB -Mark Hudson

34-year-old club captain Mark Hudson has been a pivotal figure in Huddersfield's great start to the season and will no doubt be one of the first names on the team sheet again this weekend as The Terriers come up against play-off chasing Birmingham City.

The former Cardiff and Crystal Palace man is highly experienced and has spent the majority of his career at Championship level.

CB - Christopher Schindler

Former German under-21 international Christopher Schindler arrived at Huddersfield in the summer from 1860 Munich and has had a great start to life with the club.

Tommy Smith is almost part of the furniture down at the John Smiths Stadium after being with the club his whole career so far, making over 100 appearances in the process.

He is a huge fan favourite at the club and you can expect to see him in the starting line up this coming weekend when The Terriers face off against Birmingham City.

CM - Dean Whitehead

Dean Whitehead would be the first of the two central sitting midfielders in my preferred Huddersfield starting XI.

Whitehead is one of the most experienced members of this Huddersfield Town squad and acts as a linchpin in the centre of midfield to allow the attacking trio of players in front of him to express themselves.

Whitehead has had a long and distinguished career in football and has represented the likes of Sunderland, Stoke City and Middlesbrough.

CM - Jonathan Hogg

Ball winning midfielder Jonathan Hogg would partner Whitehead in the centre of midfield in my Huddersfield XI, and act as the second linchpin to allow the attacking trio infront of him to express their talents.

Hogg has been at the club since 2013 and has made close to 100 appearances for The Terriers.

LW - Elias Kachunga

Elias Kachunga is currently on loan at the John Smiths Stadium from FC Ingolstadt and would be given a starting berth from the left wing in my Huddersfield Town preferred XI.

The 24- year-old was clearly seen as a player of great potential in his early days as he was capped by the German national team at both under-19 and under-21 level.

David Wagner is keen to try and get the best out of the 24-year-old, hence the reason he joined the club on a season long loan.

CAM - Kasey Palmer

England under-21 international Kasey Palmer is seen as a player with great potential by both parent club Chelsea and the England national team.

He has excellent technical ability, great vision and is a very strong, physical player who appears to have taken to life in England's 2nd tier very well.

He joined The Terriers on a season long loan and has currently made 13 appearances for the club, scoring twice in the process.

RW - Rajiv Van La Parra

Former Dutch under-21 man Rajiv Van La Parra has been excellent for Huddersfield so far this season and has really taken to life at the club well.

He is lightning quick, very direct and excellent with the ball at his feet and is proving to be a real asset for David Wagner to have at his disposal.

His first goal for the club actually came against his former employers Wolverhampton Wanderers as the Terriers ran out 1-0 winners.

ST - Nahki Wells

Goal poacher Nahki Wells would lead the line for my Huddersfield Town preferred XI, Wells has been at the club for four years now and has really adhered himself to the fans throughout that time.

The former Bradford City man has made over 100 appearances for the club and has netted over 40 time throughout that time.

His tally for this season currently stands at 3 and he will be hopeful of adding to that this weekend when facing off against, what will no doubt be a stern Birmingham City defence.
